Louisville beats IU handily

Crean has 2 years left on his contract at the end of the season. Buyout is 4 million. It goes to 1 million on July 1st. It's pro-rated. They owe him nothing if he gets another job. They get 5 years to pay it. It's basically a non issue. I think he gets fired at the end of this season. They aren't good. The fans are really getting fed up. They were booing the whole 2nd half at BLF. You guys can wish for him to get a lifetime extension but at that point IU wouldn't have a basketball fan left and therefore very little basketball revenue which would cost Fred Glass his job. Make no mistake. Glass is only out to save his own A$$ and hes probably running out of favors to do for Crean. He did for Wilson and many other coaches.
Did that happen after Davis? Sampson? They have always had enough money and have always had the fan base even during the very bad years. The coaches are just not going to come in bunches anymore.

And that roster isn't likely to get any better. With that being said Stevens is an extreme longshot. He's not ready to leave the NBA. IU would have a better shot with many other guys.
That hasn't been true in the past. It took over 20 million to get Queen to take the job. Despite what IU fans think and their spin machine tries to sell, IU is not a destination school for a lot of coaches.

And before Queen, they had to settle for a guy who was already in trouble with the NCAA.

Crean is a very good recruiter and seemingly a very mediocre X's and O's guy. I don't think Indiana's brand of basketball (play fast and out of control and launch 3s) is a great way to have long term success but they've beaten some very good teams and people are starting to refer to them as blue bloods again. I think at this point if you are an Indiana fan you take Crean over the field. The same fans that are calling for his head after consecutive losses probably were begging for that extension after Kansas and UNC. Purdue fans can relate.

Crean is not a very good recruiter , last years recruiting budget was 700k over any other coach in bball. That with the fact that his in state recruiting has dried up. He's just not that's a myth

Yep...that same frame of thought is exactly how they ended up with Davis, followed by Sampson and now Crean...I am content in my belief that the position is nowhere near as desirable as the delusional base believes it to be, never mind that it appeals to guys that are already great coaches and in great positions.

As much as I am not a fan of Crean, it is not a myth that he is not a good recruiter...talent is not the problem there...never has been, never will be...but he has done a good job during the course of his time there of bringing in talent, and he is in the mix on a regular basis with some of the best national talent as well.

IU is not as bad as they're playing right now. They actually played UL better than we did for 30 mins. They have talent and when it comes together, they beat teams like Kansas and UNC. They're the type of team that gives Purdue trouble with their length and ability to get offensive boards. They're still a tourney team and will be dangerous if the Clapper can get them to run an actual offensive play. That said, I enjoy watching them lose.
POTFH.
Don't disagree that they are not as bad as they are playing right now, yet, no excuse(s) at all to justify how bad they are playing either.

I would disagree that they played UL better for 30 minutes, as that simply is not the case...while the score was misleading in the Purdue game in that it made it appear as though it was closer than it actually may have been, the same applied yesterday, as UL was in complete control for the virtual course of that game...would have completely dominated had they not been as poor as they were with respect to their decisions and handling of the ball on the offensive end (never mind had IU not received the calls that they did on multiple occasions).

IU is talented...no doubt about it...and deep...but, they lack leadership...they don't have a solid PG...they are poorly coached...and they are selfish (especially Blackmon).

They do pose problems for Purdue (and other teams) because of their size and athleticism, but, they are terrible on the defensive end (individually and collectively), they are selfish, and they lose to teams that they have no business losing to as a result. They are on the verge of an implosion down there right now...will be really interesting to see what happens on Tuesday night there.

I agree with this. He has had the best collection of talent in the B1G for years, based on recruiting experts. But no one has done less with so much.

I agree. Good talent, poor offensive philosophy and too many guys going one on one.
That said, they'll present all kinds of problems for us in gloomington because they're the type of team that gives us trouble. They'll speed the game up and break down our defenders off the dribble, get into the bodies of Haas and Biggie to draw fouls or just throw some crap towards the vicinity of the rim and then crash the boards.

Sorry he's not bad he's mediocre and he doesn't land anything in state anymore. Obviously he gets talent but I would wager that most anybody with that much resources would be able too. When you look at it like that he's not really all that impressive

IU hired a very good coach in Sampson. He was just dirty. Nobody wanted the job with looming NCAA penalties. IU will hire someone better than Crean. They can get a guy like Chris Holtman if they have to.

Indiana is an easy job. That is what will make them attractive. Any coach worth a grain of salt can win big there. Crean just sucks. You guys are delusional if you think they can't upgrade from one of the worst coaches in the country. Their will be someone decent available.

Crean has some obvious flaws but he's far from one of the worst coaches in the country.
