Another tough "true road" test for IU.
Exactly what IU needs. To fail miserably with a talented team the year that Crean needs an extension. I've hated this guy for 9 years. It's about over.
Well, national polling would disagree as they are 16 and we are 15. I do agree that Purdue is the better team.
Purdue should be a top 10 team. They are playing well. IU isn't. I hope they miss the tournament.
Florida State will jump up to #10, PU will be #11.

Do you know many years remain on Creans contract,and how much IU would have to pay him should he be fired after this year?Maybe Freddie can get him to resign,cough,cough,like Kevin Wilson did.
Honestly at this point I'd rather IU do well over MSU. IU generally doesn't "steal" the recruits Purdue is going after. Of course I don't want IU to do well...
Creans buyout drops to 1 mil July 1st of this year...that is chump change for boosters if they decide to cut the cord. The seat is hot for Crean, personally he has been the best gift you could have at IU for the past 9 years. I hope he stays forever
I think he stays. He did win the Big 10 championship last year. IU should give him a break. Crean can easily say that he is looking for a leader on the court. Given the his success last year, Crean should be safe this year. But then, watch IU fans heads explode.
I couldnt possibly feel bad for their fan base.
Contract is set to expire in 2020...so, something will happen one way or another after this season, as they either have to extend him again (and hard to believe that the buyout would remain at $1million in that scenario), or, they buy him out and move on...neither decision would surprise me a great deal.

Crean has 2 years left on his contract at the end of the season. Buyout is 4 million. It goes to 1 million on July 1st. It's pro-rated. They owe him nothing if he gets another job. They get 5 years to pay it. It's basically a non issue. I think he gets fired at the end of this season. They aren't good. The fans are really getting fed up. They were booing the whole 2nd half at BLF. You guys can wish for him to get a lifetime extension but at that point IU wouldn't have a basketball fan left and therefore very little basketball revenue which would cost Fred Glass his job. Make no mistake. Glass is only out to save his own A$$ and hes probably running out of favors to do for Crean. He did for Wilson and many other coaches.
And the morons on the IU rivals board are debating over whether to hire Brad Stevens, tony Bennett, or Sean miller.
Well, Stevens is doing nothing at Boston and IU can offer a lot more than Virginia or Arizona. Crean just makes IU look bad. It's still the flagship program in the most basketball rich state in the world. Now that they can hire without sanctions, I seriously doubt it's going to be hard to upgrade from Crean. They can offer about anything.
Why settle then...just hire all three of them, with Stevens as the Head Coach and Bennett and Miller as his assistants...that is the logic of the typical (myopic and out of touch with reality) IU fan.
Debating among only themselves obviously...which is appropriate.
There is no fan base in the world more delusional than the myopic throng that compose the IU basketball fan base.
Makes sense (only to them of course), as all of those guys have such bad gigs presently (especially relative to the IU job that they believe is the most desirable in the world), and all are struggling mightily as well...no doubt they were all just passing time where they are presently until the job that they really wanted all along becomes available.
I dont know for sure that they are the most delusional fan base.ND fans are already talking about them competing for the national title nest year.
IU is not as bad as they're playing right now. They actually played UL better than we did for 30 mins. They have talent and when it comes together, they beat teams like Kansas and UNC. They're the type of team that gives Purdue trouble with their length and ability to get offensive boards. They're still a tourney team and will be dangerous if the Clapper can get them to run an actual offensive play. That said, I enjoy watching them lose.

Boston is in 3rd place in the east with a very mediocre roster.
It doesn't matter what IU is right now. It's all about "upside." That's not delusion. A horrible coach like Crean has won 2 BT Championships there. Mike Davis coached them to a Runner Up finish. Imagine what a good coach could do? That'd be my sell. They can attract candidates that Purdue can only dream about.
And that roster isn't likely to get any better. With that being said Stevens is an extreme longshot. He's not ready to leave the NBA. IU would have a better shot with many other guys.
