Line on Louisville game

IU neighbor proposed a $100 bet for who loses by less this week IU or Purdue. Looks like IU is -21 and Purdue is -25 but what do you gambling type guys say? I'm more interested in bragging rights than the money.

wilson is going to try his best to run it up on iu.

What will be higher, the margin of victory or his blood alcohol level?

The Eclipse event shades my judgement. Purdue loses late in the 4 qtr due to a turnover by 7 pts. Lamar Jackson is contained most of the day and doesn't fun run all over us. He is held to less than 100 yards.

I would love to see Purdue contain him and ruin his Jr Year campaign for Heisman right out of the gate, but I doubt we have the stamina to contain him all day.
the entire offseason was used to make him a better passer

And this is my only glimmer of hope for keeping the scoring down and keeping this game close. That UL comes in with a gameplan to win this game using Jackson primarily as a pocket passer. It sounds crazy to reign him, but there is some motivation to do so.

(1) Coach perspective: Why expose your all world QB to unnecessary hits in the first game of the season, one that is expected to be lopsided. Play it conservative and keep him as fresh as possible for the bigger games down the line.

(2) Player perspective: I reached the peak of the mountain last year by winning the Heisman, yet there are several QB's projected to be drafted ahead of me. Why am I not getting the respect? I am going to need to show progression as a pocket passer, and work to my #2 and #3 options instead of depending on my legs.

From NFL.com draft profile:

Where he needs to improve: Jackson has a ways to go to develop into a consistently accurate passer. He has a bad habit of locking out his front leg, screwing himself into the ground and falling off throws. This dramatically affects his ball placement and touch. He flashes the ability to work to Nos. 2-3 in his progression, but usually if No. 1 isn't there, he looks to run. In his defense, the pass protection at Louisville was terrible at times (see Houston game).

The other major concern about Jackson is his thin frame. He is very wiry and he'll need to add some bulk to withstand a 16-game schedule at the next level. The same things were said about Deshaun Watson early in his college career. He packed on plenty of bulk before leaving Clemson and hopefully Jackson will do the same.

Even if he makes strides in his pocket passing, perhaps the first game out of the gate there will be some growing pains, perhaps a few costly turnovers? Here's hoping..

I don't think Wilson will try to run up the score against some of his old coaches and most of his old players. His beef is with Fred Glass and Fred isn't playing.

I do. More because of his new boss than anything else.

He wants to shove it in Glass' face for canning him the way he did. Did Wilson deserve it? Yes, but why did Glass sign him to a contract extension earlier in the year if he was so worried about Wilson's boorish behavior? Glass is at fault here as much as anyone and I think Wilson will take great pleasure in running the score up on his old school. Urban's looking for another NC - what better way to start the season than to run up the score on a BIG East opponent's field? Meyer has no qualms about running scores up on people.

We'll know in about 29.5 hours who is right.....exciting time of year. Do you think Purdue can keep the losing margin under 30?

Though, OSU also plays Oklahoma next weekend. I think if they get out to a comfortable lead, they'll try to keep as much in the tank as possible for that game.

It will be a 40 point OSU lead in the early 4th quarter. The back-ups will be in by then.

Not seeing an OSU blowout.............IU has 9 starters back on "D" and 6 on "O"................IU has played them fairly competitive the past few years.........6 straight PT spread covers.....As mush as I hate IU.........love the pts.......

Wilson's not their coach anymore. And he's going to want to shove it in the face of IU after the way he was dismissed.

If I were a betting man, I'd take Purdue and the spread. I have to believe Louisville will run up the score, but Purdue will score late to make the final score look respectable.

Looks like I've got 28 points to play with on my bet. would have been nice to have another td

Wow
He had over 400 yards and 2 TDs. They had 3 big fumbles (2 inside the 5 yard line)....but closer than I would have ever predicted!!
