Let’s hear some early score predictions

Both teams at full go
Tennessee 31
Purdue 27

Purdue minus their two first round picks
Tennessee 34
Purdue 24

Just looking for good conversation. I’m definitely biased but let me provide some context.

Tennessee is the second best offense Purdue has seen. Our tempo is impossible to prepare for and we typically have 14 or more on the board before the defense settles into the game.

While Purdue has a good offense in their own right, they don’t have a running game and they don’t have what has hurt UT the most this season… a mobile QB.

I also think a lot of Bell and Karloftis and think their pending absence would heavily impact the score board. Tennessee’s best CB isn’t playing to rehab a foot injury and prepare for the Senior Bowl… Purdue minus Bell alleviates a great deal of pressure on a secondary that’s one man down.

With both teams seeing key defenders getting a head start for the draft, I’ll say a high scoring game

Tennessee 42
Purdue 34

I have lost interest in bowl game with all the best players sitting out. Play-off ultimately killed bowls as predicted. They are now little more than pre-season scrimmages in Dec/Jan. Too bad.

Will be nice to see what receivers step up minus Bell.

Isn't Tennessee going to be missing like 4 defenders? I don't expect Purdue the miss Bell to much. Don't fixate on him as Purdue passing attack. They have tons of options. George being out would be an issue.

Also, don't look at Purdue's lack of running attack as a hindrance. They basically use the pass as an extension of a run.

I expect lots of points. Both teams score 30+

Taylor is the only defender I’m aware that will be missing for Tennessee.

Giving a team a month to prepare for an offense that’s one dimensional… I wouldn’t like that if I were Purdue.

Why? When you have a slew of pass catchers that can run multiple routes and TE's and RB's that can catch and a QB with an NFL arm, why would I worry?

What's the difference between an outside sweep and a screen to the RB?

The defensive line can play vertically, the eyes of the secondary aren’t tested with run/pass read at the snap, and you can install some schematic items when you have 3 weeks to prep.

Not trying to talk shit, it’s just football.

You make it sound easy, yet no one has been able to stop it though.

Purdue has been held to less than 14 4x this year… no one has done that to Tennessee. Including the two playoff teams we have played.

What’s the context there? Seems like the offense has played better the back half of the season.

we haven't played an offense like this all year, plus they got one of those dual threat type QB's that will get some first downs when we do play good D and those will be back breakers and we'' ll eventually fold. I see Tenn w/ 6 TD's and one FG so that's 45 to our 24. this w/ our 2 stars out of course.

New QB. Plummer didn't score as much as starting QB. Those 14 point games don't really apply.

our only chance is to win the TO battle and to have long sustainable drives to keep you off the field. Not easy to do for a whole game.

We will score more than 24 even if Bell doesn't play.

Our defense sucks when it comes down to third and forth downs. We somehow beat Kentucky without their punter having to punt even once. If Purdue has a quarterback with even a little mobility they can win the game. I'm sorry didn't get to watch any of the Boilermakers games but I know they beat teams better than our team

You have not paid attention to detail…big time error when conducting business…those games you speak were pretty much w/out one Aiden O’Connell as the starting QB…minus 1 Gand…a monsoon in his first start as QB…vs MN…start whim you wish with that storm…flip a coin…since then, check your stats…just saying, there is a new sheriff in town

I can’t see this one being close…. Think UT blows our doors off a la OSU.

I’m shocked the line is as close as it is.

We're going to be playing very, very shorthanded against an SEC teams that likes up tempo offense and has a dual threat QB. I think we give up a lot of points.

sad that we finally are in a bowl and dont have all our players. they could surprise me i suppose but i dont hold much hope with too many starters gone.

I rarely make predictions so if Purdue plays their best without five starters and they dont get blown out,I can live with it.
Wright being out hurts. I think it would hurt a lot less with Rice and Yaseen healthy but behind down probably 4 of your best 6 options at WR hurts big time.

TEs take some of the burden off but we haven’t been using the TE as much with AOC as QB as we did with Plummer. Most likely because AOC can get to 3rd and 4th reads and the TE was the likely check down on the primary play side when Plummer was in there.

I think we’ll be able to run AND pass on Tennessee. Their defense just isn’t good no matter what the UT fans on this board will try and tell you. I just think their QB/balance will be hard to stop and we won’t be as hard to stop minus about 2400 yards of receiving output going into this game.

Yeah, this is getting crazy. Is Purdue going to have any receivers available for this game?

I'm starting to feel that way, too. It's disappointing because at full strength I think this team is more than capable of winning.

Down 5 starters now? Top 2 receivers? Top defensive players? A big hole in the OL? I am not liking this at all. My prediction has changed drastically since last week. If there was ever a time to step up, now is it. I've gone from thinking a close game to down by at least two TDs.

Who is the OL player missing?
