always thought he was a good coach
He's carved out a respectable career, especially given that Miami and FSU are two places where basketball isn't exactly king.
they got bigger fish to fryHeard he planned retirement when he got word the job down south was opening up…
Good points. I believe FSU's 97-57 win over Purdue in the 2005 ACC challenge is still Painter's largest margin of defeat. That was a rough year without Carl Landry and David Teague.Had some really good battles with Purdue in the Big Ten/ACC challenge.
Hamilton was ACC Coach of the Year three times ('09, '12, and '20) and winningest coach in program history.
They had a great run as a #9-seed in 2018 NCAA Tournament losing a tight one to Michigan in the West Regional Final.
Good coach, good guy, well-respected - his teams were usually athletic, tough, and physical and always battled for 40 minutes. I liked him.
