I know someone at Warren Central who is friends with David that said he is leaning towards Penn State. They also said he hated Iowa after visiting there two weekends ago because it is boring and there is nothing to do there. He just visited Penn State this weekend and my source said he was impressed by the atmosphere and the program in general. He said Purdue was in second and that Penn State is starting to pull away.

Did this person say anything about Brett Kavanaugh or an ice throwing incident?

Not what I heard from his neighbors who are friends with David.....

Just because the news is not favorable doesn't mean it cannot be credible. I would agree Iowa is a very boring place. And anyone who watched the OSU /PSU game would have to admit that atmosphere was electric.

And any Boilermaker would have to agree for our team to start winning recruiting battles for elite players, we need to show we are alarm also a potential elite program.

To say he would choose a 6-6 Purdue team over the opportunity to play for PSU is a bit optimistic rather than realistic. I hope he chooses Purdue, but I would not diss a poster just because he presents opposing views.

OP just posted the same on the Indiana board as their first post. A bit suspicious they show up newly minted at the same time on both boards with news we're both missing out on the player (though I do believe we're behind Purdue with Bell).

I have heard the same thing floating around, could be true

When, as a Purdue senior, I was trying to decide among several offers for a master's program, one of my most admired professors, who had done his Ph.D. at Penn State, said "It's a good place to study in the wintertime." I went there anyway. He was right. Two years later I decamped State College for the Ph.D. program at Wisconsin. Different world. A few years later, I spent a summer as a visiting professor at Iowa. A small city, fairly remote. But if Mr. Bell thinks Iowa is boring, wait 'till he gets a load of State College. It may not be the end of the world, but you can see it from there.

He wantstobeknownasthefirst to break the news

Wole... it’s a two month old account that randomly breaks this news on several different boards. The only like on it and the only one confirming the news is an account created today and they liked each others comments. I know you struggle with common sense, as it is very evident in a lot of your posts, but come on dude. Even you can’t be that gullible. Bell may pick Penn State and I am sure he had a good visit. Several of the other visitors have been recruiting him as well. But he will be back to Purdue and Purdue offers immediate playing time and has a freshman in the national spotlight. If it is a pure football decision, it is Purdue and it’s easy.

Also posted today, was the Louisville football buyout for their coach was only cut in half if he leaves, not fired. Louisville isn’t going to pay 18 million dollars and then have to pay his contact. It just ain’t happening. Once this ‘19 class gets in, it’s going to be hard to walk away. So with coach staying, Purdue should be the favorite. Moore picked Purdue over some very good schools, and look what he is doing.

LOL about any school being ruled out because it’s ‘boring with nothing to do.’ Between football and studies, there shouldn’t be much time to worry about doing much else. I’d think much less of a kid who was evaluating such an important decision on his future based on entertainment options.

My firm opinion. I have no insider info. My belief now is the same as it was 6 months ago.

Given: Bell is an elite athlete and is being recruited by many elite teams. He has the chance to start for many great schools and has NFL talent. The team that signs him will have to win him over that they can provide him an avenue to those dreams. Academics is not a big factor when comparing BIG 10 teams because they are all good.

We've admitted signing Bell will be a tough task, but not impossible. To be able to beat the best colleges like PSU, we will have to prove we are also worthy of his services. And we have got to show that on the field. I don't believe we have to be 8-4 or 10-2, but I do believe we need to prove we are an elite program or at least potentially one. Wins over Iowa and/or MSU will go a very long way to winning him over as well as the other elite athletes like Weaver who are also still showing interest.

But were you in the room?
