If you were an illegal, would you quickly consider moving out of Mississippi? Perhaps, this was a state strategy? Everywhere I turn I can see wasted money costing responsible people...whether the mess in California or the cleansing of the illegals. None of this should have happened and we will get the bill. We have created a standard operating process where irresponsible decisions are paid by responsible people with individual responsibility rarely brought to attention.

Is the State of Mississippi's Proposal to Pay Bounties on Illegal Immigrants a Bridge Too Far?
The state of Mississippi may be considering proposed legislation to create a bounty system for tracking down and capturing illegal aliens.Keen makes a good point about preventable tragedies like the murder of Laken Riley, and the state of Mississippi is right to be concerned. The Trump administration is already cracking down - and we might note that Mississippi isn't the first state to come up with this idea. My colleague Rusty Weiss wrote about one other state pushing such a measure in 2024:

For about a year-and-a-half after high school, I had a part-time gig repossessing cars for a local credit union. The job took me into some bad areas of places like Chicago and Gary, Indiana, and I had guns pointed at me twice. While I was doing that, I was approached by a middle-aged, rough-looking dude who worked for the bail bondsman down the street from the credit union who was looking for help.
This guy's thing was, when someone skipped on their bail and fled, he would track them down and bring them back. He called himself a "skip-tracer," but that line of work might be described as "bounty hunter." I declined after having lunch with the guy and hearing him out; repossessing cars was enough excitement.
The Mississippi bill in question, like the Missouri bill, likewise is offering a $1,000 reward for the capture of illegals by registered bounty hunters. Could this be a growth industry? As the Hill article linked above states:
Is this a sensible measure? Granted, illegal immigration is one of the major issues of our time, an issue that contributed mightily to the reelection of President Trump - and in no small part because of President Biden's deliberate inaction on the border and immigration issues. And yes, crimes committed by illegals are a problem, a growing problem in many areas, not just border states.

But is this a bridge too far? Perhaps not. DeSoto county District Attorney Matthew Barton's press release on the measure describes "certified bounty hunters."
This will surely set off a flood of complaints from the left, including references to a certain old television Western starring Richard Boone. But the comparison (as with many such comparisons from the hysterical left) isn't an apt one. The press release describes, not the actual capture and detention of illegal immigrants, but merely the identifying and reporting - that's quite a different kettle of law-enforcement fish. And the bill limits the awards to "certified bounty hunters," implying there is a level of training required.
It's an interesting move. The issue of illegal aliens, illegal immigration, and what President Trump calls "migrant crime" is a serious one, and we might note that law enforcement has traditionally been done at the local and state level. While immigration is a federal issue, with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol having primary responsibility, there is a place for the states to pitch in. This might be a viable way to do that. The problem is, after all, big enough (thanks in no small part to the inept Biden administration) to call for a variety of enforcement approaches.

Why do you want illegals in the US? There' s a process to immigration. If you choose to try and subvert that process and enter the US through a different means, then you're an illegal and deserve deportation. Period.

Border Chief Homan Says Raid on Tren de Aragua Gang Was Leaked, Vows Accountability
Homan said his team has identified the source of the leak.Border czar Tom Homan promised on Feb. 6 to find those responsible for leaking the details of a raid targeting members of the Tren de Aragua (TDA) gang and hold them accountable.
“This isn’t a game,” Homan told reporters outside the White House. “When operations get leaked like that, it puts our officers at great risk.”
The Venezuelan gang has become increasingly active in the United States amid a years-long surge in illegal immigrants crossing the southern border. It is one of several high-threat groups the Trump administration has prioritized for deportation.
“We know that TDA is dangerous. Everybody can agree to that,” Homan said. “But when they get a heads up that we are coming, it’s only a matter of time before our officers are ambushed.
“Their job is dangerous enough, so we are going to address this very seriously.”
The raid in question took place on Feb. 5 in Colorado. Before approaching the gaggle of reporters, Homan told Fox News that his team had already identified the source of the leak, which is not the first to hinder the border czar’s operations.
Before President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Homan’s plans for immigration enforcement in Chicago were leaked, prompting him to change things up.
Homan suggested that future media access to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could be limited if the leaks continue.
“Look, I said from day one, we want to be transparent with the American people,” he said. “We’ve invited numerous media outlets along, but right now, it’s all about operational security.
“So we may have to stop the media ride-alongs because—I’m not pointing the finger at them—but the less people that know about these operations, the safer it is for our agents.”
Trump tapped Homan to spearhead from outside the Department of Homeland Security the massive deportation operation he promised to voters. Homan’s office is housed within the White House and reports directly to Trump.
When asked about reports that ICE is releasing some detainees, Homan said he intends to investigate the matter.
“I was made aware of that this morning, and I will address that today, but I’ve been told that some were released because of some health concerns that we could not handle within ICE detention,” he said.
“So I have a meeting with ICE leadership today to find out exactly who was released and why, but the president made it clear we’re ending catch-and-release.”
Homan said roughly 11,000 illegal immigrants have been arrested since Trump took office on Jan. 20. That figure, he added, will go up as the leaks and public safety threats are addressed.
“As the aperture opens up beyond criminals, you’re going to see more arrests,” he said. “I’ve made it clear that if you’re in the country illegally, you’re not off the table.”
Maybe Dr. Phil leaked during his ride alongs?
Maybe one of the 1,600 convicted criminals that were pardoned by Trump leaked; that is, if it isn’t one of the ones that has already been re-arrested for solicitation of a minor.
Or, maybe it was one of the 250 criminals convicted for assaulting law enforcement on J6 but now on the streets that leaked it.
