I missed yesterday's game---again. I watched it this morning. I don't have too much to add to what's already been said, but a few random thoughts:
1) The game got off to a rough start for Purdue--a disastrous opening series and then Maryland easily found the endzone on its first possession. But, Purdue settled down after that on both sides of the ball and played well until falling apart just before halftime.
2) There wasn't much of a running game, but I would keep giving Mockabee chances. That kid just seems like a gamer.
3) Careless and untimely penalties have hurt Purdue this year. But, damn, Maryland! Get it together. No wonder Mike Locksley is sporting the gray beard. For the most part it felt like the officiating was friendly toward Purdue.
4) The third quarter got sloppy with the turnovers, but the last 8 or 9 minutes of the game reminded me of last year's Music City Bowl. Chaotic drama. I'm just glad Purdue found a way to come out on top.
5) Purdue beat a quality opponent on the road despite not playing its best. Not many Purdue teams in recent memory have been good enough to do that.
