King Doerue announcing tomorrow

What reports? Do you mean message board chatter? I am going to give the benefit of the doubt to the Brohm Squad for not actively recruiting another big ten commit which is against the unofficial policy. No snake oil salesman here. Doerue has far superior numbers this year than James (I know... different competition).

Since everyone else gets to speculate I am going to:
King calls Purdue staff and commits. Purdue staff calls James and says his offer is off the table as we have two backs in this class and are still pushing hard for Wandale. James sees writing on wall at OSU and bolts for his best remaining offer where he gets legit playing time at IU. Or maybe I have it all backwards and King was waiting to make sure James was not going to commit to Purdue to ensure he is the top back in this class (Wandale would likely be used differently).
Believe what you want. I know Eron Hodges has been on James for a long time.

I’ve never liked this posse strategy. I think it’s one of the worst ideas in sports. If a guy is 300 lbs ok great. If he’s 285 and not like just a ridiculous athlete (Like nfl ready right then and there) Big caliber lines just laugh and swallow them up. If they’re 265, you just look like a joke trying it. I’d put it on the level of a center shooting free throws granny style.

By then Neal should be even more explosive for his size.. and he can get to the QB without multiple blockers. If Reviere is 290+ Sweet, run him at DT instead of watts.

The biggest position I look to go smaller at on third down on the DL is just WDE.
Purdue already has that defensive package in place which is called their 'NASCAR' package if I remember correctly. It's also a way to get Neal off the field to give him a rest on an obvious passing situation. And who is to say in those obvious passing situations, you couldn't zone blitz and drop the 'DT's' back in to coverage while blitzing the LB's off the edge? There is a lot of things Holt can do with his scheme that he hasn't had the personnel for...he has said as much.

All D1 coaches actively recruit verbal commits, including ours (see Amad Anderson). But that isn't to say Brohm doesn't prefer Doerue or at least see him as an equal prospect to the other guy.

Eron Hodges recruited James when he was at OSU. James verbally committed to Hodges and OSU before he left. Hodges came to Purdue. I believe you when you say Hodges has been on James, that is a unique situation. But the previous poster used the word "active." My response is I don't believe we would be actively recruiting him the same way we would to King. Amad Anderson was a different situation. He decommitted from Rutgers before lining up his visits and committed to Purdue a few weeks later. I know his dad was vocal about his love for Purdue before he decommitted. I am not naive and know coaches will reach out to commits at other schools, but are not ACTIVELY recruiting players with in-person visits and showing the love the same way we did with King.

I also want to say I am very excited about the potential this evening we may have King Doerue on our commitment list. I have not seen him in person obviously but watched his highlights and this guy will be likely our best RB I can remember, yes even more than Kory Sheets and Raheem Mostert (definitely the most highly rated per 247 composite). He has offers from many major P5 programs including Notre Dame, some SEC schools, and some big time Big 12 schools. Before you all jump on my back for saying all these guys had conditional offers, I don't believe it for a second. Notre Dame came down to see him in person and offered him after watching him play and King said they were in contact with him nearly every day. He is the real deal and he would be Plan A for us any year.

I guess so long as they don’t go to crazy with it. But that’s the beauty of this staff, they get it.

Mum's been the word on Tario. I'm not getting a great feeling on that situation with all the surgeries.
I know no details at all on this. However, it would not surprise me if he were given a Medical Scholarship IF he could no longer make the cuts and have explosive speed that he used to have prior to surgery. He only participated in a few plays this season and did not appear to have the juice he once had.

I’m moving to Milwaukee in a couple weeks. Never lived anywhere but Illinois or California except for my time at Purdue. How is it

I met her at PU soph yr on blind date. First thing she tells me is, I only date guys 6'0 or taller. I am 5'10. Long story short, got married, divorced 8 yrs later and she married a 5'6 surgeon and they live in Milwaukee suburb called Merton, WI

So I take it you went back to Harry’s for round two and forgot about her?

Milwaukee and Wisconsin are a great place. Just leave your Cubs and Bears stuff at the border. There are many great restaurants, places to visit, and things to do. One thing that isn't said much is the amount of little micro breweries. I was born in Madison and still have family that live in Southern Wisconsin. They recently attended a couple of baseball playoff games.

Tight. I’m not a follower of pro sports.

The other thing I will add is Wisconsin , especially southern Wisconsin is not as cold as the myths. Milwaukee is a great place. As are many other parts of the state.

Our defense is actually going to be loaded with recruited talent AND returning a lot of experience next year. That, to me anyway, means coaches will have the luxury and of adding a lot of physical explosiveness. However, they won’t be doing it out of necessity. If Karlaftis wins a starting role, great. If he isn’t quite there yet and they keep Reviere there, then that’s cool too. If George gets here early, looks great, and they beef Reviere up for the inside, that’s also cool.

Sampson James won’t enjoy his experience in bucket games.

spot on.

Milwaukee has great times in the summer. Festivals and music nearly every weekend in the summer at the Lakefront. Ethnic Groups get access to the Meier Festival grounds each weekend to party and do their cultural things they do. There are several play theatres in the downtown if that is to your liking as well. Brand new arena for Bucks opens in a week or two. Brewers are in playoffs for baseball. Life is pretty good from Spring to late Fall. Winter can be rough temperature wise. Snowfalls are about the same as other Midwest towns and an occasional blizzard rolls thru every other year. If less than a foot of snow, the town cleans it up quick to keep business as usual. Most schools stay open as well. Education also is a high priority in the state and most suburbs do an excellent job in education.
