St. Mary's is a top 40 team at best. The Gaels aren't even as good as Iowa or Minnesota.

Gonzaga seems to be about the same level as Purdue. Has some guys but not elite athleticism and probably not as skilled. I know they have some wins but Arizona wasn't the current version and their other wins seem to be fine but nothing special. Their conference is such a joke the perfect record really means nothing. Those teams are not even in Georgia St.'s level.

Bilas just said on this broadcast that Purdue and Wisconsin are in the top 16, the committee was wrong.

They have a PG (6'3 Nigel Williams-Goss) and SG (6'4 Jordan Mathews) that Purdue can't really replicate. Carsen Edwards can make up for that in some ways and I agree that Purdue is similar to them in ability level, but Gonzaga has a stronger starting backcourt and more depth than Purdue. So, I would still consider them a slightly better team than the Boilers right now. Could Purdue beat them? On a good day, yes they can. However, Gonzaga won again and since they're still undefeated (26-0), they deserve to be seeded above the Boilers.

I think that it's really hard to tell how good Gonzaga is, but they are obviously a good team. It would be an interesting matchup for Purdue.

Team consistency should be one of the strength that people needs to find way to measure it.

That's why I like the KenPom metric. He drills down into the offensive and defensive numbers better than anyone else. Gives a really good "picture" of a team. His metric also gets much more accurate the deeper into the season you go.

I know that Williams-Goss (Washington), Mathews (Cal-Berkeley), and Johnathan Williams (Missouri) were all standouts at their previous schools (double-digit scorers as well, I believe). Williams-Goss really makes them go since he can control the tempo and is a good facilitator as well. When you combine those three with their key returnees (guard Josh Perkins, wing Silas Melson, combo-forward Killian Tillie, and the massive Przemek Karnowski) and a frosh McD's AA big (Zach Collins), it makes for a very good team.

However, I agree that they aren't as athletic overall as say, Louisville or Florida State.
