Will be hard to beat at the level they are playing at. Let's hope they aren't as on fire Thursday.

Have to try and contain Mason and Jackson, but that will be a very tough challenge. Purdue will get some looks......going to have to play like the first 25 minutes Saturday or better the whole game.

This is what it's all about....let's see what the Boilers got.

Josh Jackson was pumped up to play Bridges and Winston and he played awesome. I could see him coming down to earth a little bit against us.

I don't think Purdue has to play lights out (although they can't have Kansas play lights out...), but Purdue's got to avoid droughts. We're not going to build up a 15 point lead. We were like 2-11 from three in the second half last night - can't afford stats like that.

If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. If everyone brings their best game on Thursday for 40 minutes, we have a chance. We are likely going to have to have our best shooting game of the year to pull it off! I have to agree Kansas looks pretty darn good. They could probably give the Brooklyn Nets a run for their money the way they played today. Let's hope they aren't playing as well come Thursday.

Will be tough for sure............but what has PU got to lose? Take it to them! Win, or go home.

Very true. We will be playing in a very hostile (almost KU home) environment against a very good team. Have we done that before? At Maryland, MSU, IU.....pretty hostile environments and Purdue won.

Purdue has nothing to lose. Play loose and have fun! I like Purdue's chances.

Hope we get the early game. If we do the other two teams fans will get behind us in a close game which would help offset the homecourt for KU.

The Sprint Center is 19,000 people. Each school is allotted 1,000 tickets. Some Michigan fans clapping for us is not gonna do much to change the homecourt advantage.

And we can play considerably better defense than MSU when we put our minds to it....Remember, both IU and Iowas State have beaten them....State recently. BTFU!
exactly

After watching msu hang with them for 3/4 of the game, I like our chances even more now

crean has some free time now, maybe he can give some insight on KUs weaknesses hehe

We are much better on defense than MSU and did you notice the stats when Ward was in the game for MSU? Outside of the finish they were +9 or 10 with him and actually using a post man. We will have a post man in the whole time and need to take it to them. Vince is going to have his hands full with Josh Jackson and Mason is going to get bailed out on his drives to the rim like Trimble. Both will get their points and limiting what the rest of the team does for Kansas will be the key.

We should have. UM vs Ore/Ri will be the other. Our matchup is a better prime time game I would think. We should have the UM crowd if nothing else.

This thread should be changed to "Kansas is fantastic". We need to play our A game for 40 minutes to have a chance. After the first 25 minutes last night, we know we have the capability. Somehow Matt has to come up with a plan to contain Mason, Jackson, and the bigs down low. I'm thinking Haas has to play more, play really well, and get them in foul trouble... Go Boilers.

I hate to say it but Kansas looked better than any other team I've seen this year.

I'd say they are probably the best team. Still they have lost several games this season to teams worse than they are.

I'd say the key to this game is tempo. We need to keep them in the half court. That's easier said than done but it's something we can control by rebounding and limiting turnovers. If we can do those things I think we will have opportunities to win late.

Doesn't help they have Bill Self on the side lines also. But how do they handle your twin towers? How does anybody handle the twin towers. Hmmmm. You guys have a chance.

We usually handle the twin towers ourself by keeping one of them on the bench.

Key here Is not letting them run and play at a frantic pace. We need to make them play some D. MSU'S pace played right into Kansas hands.

You're obsessed. Move on to something, anything, besides crowds. You see how much it meant in Milwaukee. Nil.

Maybe you can move on to something other than being a jacka$$?

I was saying it wasn't going to make a freaking difference.

The key to this game will be keeping Mason out of the lane. Dribble penetration has been an Achilles heel this year and mason was going by Nairn and Winston with no screen like they were standing still. That drive and kick to Graham in the corner is devastating and if he doesn't kick he can pick up fouls on our bigs in a hurry. If we can contain Mason (easier said than done) we have a good chance to bog down the rest of their offense and put ourselves in the driver's seat.

I think we got a decent warm up with ISU. Kansas is more talented outside of the PG position than ISU though. We did a great job in the first half of perimeter defense and cutting off the opportunity. Will be even harder Thursday. If Kansas plays a typical game for them, we'll basically need to play two halves like our first half vs. ISU.

I wasn't as impressed with ISU as the rest of the world seems to be. I thought they played similar to Indiana, a lot of fast breaks, isos, and long questionable 3s. The threes went down in the second half but it didn't really seem like a coherent team as much as a bunch of athletes going out and making things happen. Kansas is a well oiled machine and Mason controls that offense, they're going to be a completely different animal. PJ and Spike are more than likely going to draw Mason and he's going to try to exploit that I'm sure. It's up to our bigs to help without fouling. If we get through this there's no reason we can't just win the whole thing.

I believe you are on target. Make mason shoot over the height but don't go after the block. If he scores so be it. It's kick out threes, and ones, and the subsequent foul trouble for our bigs that we can't allow.

Again, IU AND ISU both beat them this season, and ISU beat them @Kansas. And the previous two teams Kansas played in the tourney were just sucked at defense, they will have a hard time on the court against us. Izzo basically gave up in the second half and nobody but Ward was still playing. Bridges was just tired and his injury affected his performance obviously. Sparty gave them too many open looks today. Carsen on Mason will be good. Remember, if Wisky can take care of nova and Michigan can take care of Louisville, there's nothing we cannot do in B1G! Give yourself some confidence! If we are short numbered I believe Painter already got at least 1 walk-on ready.

After watching them today I think they are the better team:
1) KU has the better two superstars. Mason and Jackson are better than Biggie and Vince
2) KU has the better coach. Nuff said. Love Painter but no debate about the coaching. Self all day.
3) KU will have the crowd. Not worried about poise issues but the energy the KU defense could feed off of in a close game late could be critical.

Keys to a Purdue win:
1) Haas dominates. Haas absolutely must play at or above the level he played at against isu
2) Turnover have to be no higher than 7 or 8. KU is just deadly in open court and the talent gap is just too much to overcome things like that.
3) Shooting. Cannot have an off half like against 2nd half of isu. Probably need at least 40% from 3 to have a chance.
4) Something special. Need to have a player score or make special plays above their level. Something like Cline or CE go for 16 pts or someone else not named Haas/biggie/Vincent

If even one of the keys doesn't happen I don't think Purdue wins. And with all that being said, I truly think that this is our year. There is just something different about the vibe and mentality of the team. I think it will be the best game of the tournament with Purdue taking the win in what would be their biggest win since the 2000 elite 8 run.

I'd guess Dakota will guard Devonte Graham.

I'd rather see CE on Frank Mason more often than Thompson. Thompson can split time on Mason and Graham, Mathias on Graham (or Vick off the bench), Cline on Mykhailiuk, VE on Jackson (or Bragg off the bench), Swanigan on Lucas (and Bragg or Coleby off the bench) and Haas on Lucas (or Coleby off the bench).

I think that is the key. You try to contain Mason as much as possible but not let some one else beat you. If Mason gets 30, so be it...but if nobody else gets 10, Purdue would have a shot if Vince and Caleb continue with their hot streaks.

Let Mason get his because that is the toughest matchup for Purdue..the matchups everywhere else is where Purdue can take advantage. If Carsen can play under control and not take silly risks on defense, he and Spike may be thrown at Mason as well.
