It’s buried in another thread but thought you all might want to know if you hadn’t seen it. He’s the OL/OC coach at USC. I don’t think he’s bringing much of his staff over. Maybe QB coach Huard. Expecting Conrad and Sinz to remain from last years team. Hopefully Vance Vice is coming now that it was reported he’s not going to OK St.

Just saw on X from Nathan Baird that Brennan Marion is not coaching with UNLV tomorrow. Interestingly, the line in their game has moved from Cal -3.5 all the way to UNLV -3. Must be some portal issues with Cal.

The Vice Squad it would be.

Who is reporting that? All I see are articles of him joining OKSt. Used to play with Gundy I guess.

USC couldn't wait to get rid of this guy. Sounds like him leaving avoided getting fired. Interesting article about him on Trojan Wire.

Gotta take these with a grain of salt as USC fans expect they are still 10+ win a year blue bloods.

I don’t think the OL was great but early in the year they ran the ball OK before injuries and their WRs were really really bad

Wish I was more excited about this. His offense struggled once it joined the B1G this season and, even without Williams, they had much better talent than he’ll have here…

USC arrogance on full display.

"Lincoln Riley did not trash his offensive line or throw it under the bus in 2024. Publicly, he spoke well of his offensive line. We therefore thought Henson would not be fired. Technically, he wasn’t fired. However, when a coach goes from USC to Purdue, that generally means he was encouraged to, as the industry parlance goes, “seek new career opportunities.” In other words, he was invited to leave."

I tend to believe talent matters more than anything else although coaching does matter too.

If we get some decent players, we will be ok, but TBD.

So it’s listed that we’re going to have two guys who both were OL coaches. Vance Vice and Hensen, who was OC and OL coach… he’s got past hx as a TE coach in the past as well. Maybe he’s going to be OC and TE position coach and Vice will remain O line coach?🤷🏼‍♂️

I got mixed emotions about this one after seeing USC fans happy to see him go……looks like him and Odom have a history, hopefully he can prove the doubters wrong!

What do you guys think of the hire?

agreed - the jimmies and the joes.

USC has lost a lot of the top talent that signed with Riley. Their offense moved the ball and scored. This sounds more like an issue of joining a different conference and routinely facing better competition, losing players and perhaps Riley's welcome is wearing thin.

Don’t really think it’s a bad hire and it sounds like he likes to throw the ball around along with the run. Also think it’s not likely a Homerun either but I’m quite certain it will be an improvement over last season if we can find a QB to lead the way be it an existing or a transfer guy.

Well the way it was going anything will be an improvement!
I was just hoping for a guy with a unique offense. Marion’s offense definitely would have been fun to watch but it sounds like Odom shut that down and went with past coaching history with Henson.

Of course they’re “arrogant” - With 11 National Championships & 8 Heisman Trophy winners, they have the right to be. Considering the state of our programs the past few years, this is similar to if a coach leaves Purdue for the same position in, say, the MAC; It’s technically a lateral move but not really & we likely wouldn’t lose much sleep over him going…
