Jordan Bonner commits

Ha I just googled him to try to find out more about him and it returned a number of Beverly Hills 90210 references. Guess he must have the same name as an old actor?

Very solid pickup for a thin position in need.

My thoughts:

Bonner has good upside to eventually become a solid #2 option on the outside. Shows good speed and a good feel for the spaces in a defense to create space. Does a very good job of getting the defender on his hip and blocking him out to make a catch. He needs work on his route running as it tends to be a little lackadaisical BUT that is something you frequently see at the high school level. Doesn't have elite quickness but appears to have the tools to become a very solid player and one that will help Brohm and Purdue continue to build a better roster and get more wins.

This is a very good pickup for Purdue and shows Brohm has been able to identify high want targets and get their commitment early on in the process. These kids are ones Brohm thinks he can use to develop and win games and are ones he and his staff want here!

Looks like a solid outside receiver. Shortage of those on the roster currently.

Come in, redshirt, then try to get on the two deeps once the incoming JuCos and Domer transfer graduate

JB's offense is going to garner a lot of solid offensive skill position players. This was a nice get. What I'm really focusing on is how well they recruit the defensive side of the ball. Overall it feels like there's good momentum going. If they knock off Louisville or Missouri in the pre conference by scoring a bunch of points (very possible) recruiting will really take off IMO.

Love the Stokes commit.

wonder if McCoy sticks w/ us?
If you go through McCoy's offer list it's a no brainer he stays if he wants to produce at a high level. Iowa and NC state are solid offers but neither offers near the offensive upside for a WR as Brohm's offense. Not even close. If Lovie offers or that snake Kiffin then I will be nervous.

I wouldn't worry about Iowa, they have an ultra conservative O.

I agree, ghbucs, and I'll add that the offensive line needs a lot of work. It looks like Brohm is making the O-line a priority.

The only problem I see is that we are getting close to our scholarship limit. If we score upsets over Louisville or Missouri, we won't have any room to add those elite players who are currently taking a wait and see approach.

I still expect some guys to transfer/quit/get run off during training camp or even during the season. That seems to happen with every coaching change, and not just at Purdue.

Which ones are those?

CB Johnson from indy; WR Harris from ohio; DE Norris from Fisher; Dt Deen from indy; ILB Wright from SC; DE Perkins from St louis; ILB Dingle from KY; and OLB McGrone from indy; are all hopeful recruits who are either local or have shown some interest in Purdue.

or my personal hometown favorite TE Luke Ford from Carterville, Il who just decommited from Arkansas and is leaning to Alabama. and has 6 SEC offers, 5 BIG 10 offers and offers from SIU and WKU. You know he's gotta be good if he received an offer from SIU.

We're not scoring any upsets so it's a non-issue. But to the point, attrition should be expected either through decommits or the existing roster.
