??? Sure bball is a different sport but a guy named Knight was a service academy coach and a good one. A guy named Lombardi also coached at West Point. Point being, Bobinski has a VERY hard job figuring WHO will make Purdue relevant again.This. The talk of triple option and hiring service academy coaches is a joke.
Trying to run the triple option in the Big Ten would be as big a mistake as hiring Hazell!
No, for a million different reasons, no.If I were Bobinski I would hire Monken and run triple option. I doubt he will consider this but if he does Purdue will become a solid program. Navy and Air force would do well in Big ten.
he should be towards the top of the list. guy can coach any offense. he was an nfl oc then left to take the job at air force. he is a very good coach and a good offensive mindHe wouldn't be at the top of my list, but Troy Calhoun at least interests me. He has been a quality HC while at Air Force, and he's been involved with & run non-option offenses while QB coach & OC at previous stops. If he was willing to ditch the triple option, he's a guy who would at least be somewhere on my list even if it wasn't at the top.
The real key will be who can coach/adjust with our existing "talent" no whatever scheme works best with THEM and go from there. If I were Bobinski I would hire Monken and run triple option. I doubt he will consider this but if he does Purdue will become a solid program. Navy and Air force would do well in Big ten.
