Iu's latest football commitment

Must have been a pretty easy decision....just pick the school still willing to have him.

a CB from Florida? Just because he made an official visit to Minnesota on the night in question does not mean he is the recruit in question. Surely, Minnesota had other recruits that weekend, right?

I see your point. But in the United States of America. Their is the little thing called "Due Process." Has this kid even been charged with a crime? No. Jeff Brohm most certainly would take his commitment.

there is a more telling link. This same Cb is enrolling early at IU, and has about 10+ stories about his commitment. one of those articles includes a 2 line statement that said he was on an official visit to Minnesota when all the other sexual incidents went down. Why would that reporter bother to include that in an article about a player committing to IU. it had no relation to anything. it was just thrown in there as if the author was trying to say - he knew.

Giving recruits sexual favors - especially minors - on official visits is a huge NCAA recruiting violation. The hammer is going to come down real hard once this article hits the NCAA disciplinary desk. No wonder Minnesota is not lifting the athlete's suspensions.

You're simply assuming Brohm would take his commitment. If it's not a big deal, why did his other finalists all pull their offers?

I read the police report. Well...I should say I read as much as I could before I had to stop because it was too difficult to get through. Either IU didn't think people would find out that their new recruit would soon be facing sexual assault charges or they didn't conduct due diligence on him. News reports certainly read as if all other schools dropped their offers to him so one would think IU would've/should've known. One would think that IU would pull the offer once word gets out what this young man has done. Either way - shame on IU for not doing their homework or for thinking they could accept this player into this state without anyone noticing.

So you guys have seen the video and you know that it's him? Sounds more like a "rumor."

That's why the other schools pulled their offer from a talented kid....a rumor....smh

Hell even the "refuse to play" Gophers stopped after reading the police report

You sure Kev didn't rush you back to posting after your most recent concussion?

I'm pretty sure the kid already signed with IU so idk how that would work if they wanted to drop him.

Kind of a double standard here...fire a coach for being bully, but welcome a recruit involved in a sexual assault situation?

according to the one report, he was a minor at the time, and as part of the hearing, they thought about charging her with sexual assault. She pleaded the 5th to all questions referring to him. another reason the charges were dropped. Where is the source that said all his other schools dropped their offers?

Each of the websites that cover recruiting for ISU, Nebraska, and Illinois.

Purdue has had several high school QBs that arrived at m semester and practiced and played in the Spring game. I'm unsure when the y signed their LOI. but they all arrived as high school graduates, and completed all Purdue entrance requirements, and signed all the proper forms.

just finished reading several stories and the 80 page report. the IU coach said he never questioned him about it and the subject never came up.

Where'd he say that? If that's true Allen isn't very bright.

Nothing do with Allen being bright or not. That is called willful ignorance. Plausible deniability anyone?

my mistake. it was his HS coach who was quoted as saying that. I can't really provide you the link without also providing the player's name.

I will say that after reading the 80 page report , and several other recruiting page sites, that I can verify everything you - BOILER 1987 - have said in this thread is true. And it appears that the recruit and his football team sponsor set up and initiated the entire evenings' bedroom activities which got out of hand. It was initially set up to be an official visit free "perk" for the recruit..

Never questioned him

I believe Jake Query is tweeting that this kid will not be going to IU. He doesn't mention names but it ain't hard to figure out.

Edit - Jake Query hosts an afternoon sports radio talk show in Indy for those who don't know.

he signed an LOI this week, not just gave a verbal commitment. his plan was to enter college early. would be very odd , but not unusual for IU to accept an LOI only to deny it. IU would have to show cause. Admittedly, there is a ton of cause in that 80 page report, but if IU were to deny this athlete after the report came out 7 December and he signed an LOI on 19 December, it doesn't look very good for the administration of their program.

He didn't sign an loi. He signed his financial paper work.

His 'financial paperwork' you reference is his scholarship agreement (unless he was going to be a walkon which I dont believe to be the case).

As a result, is IU going to pull his scholarship for cause?

I was just reporting what the IU recruiting web site and the Indy star and several Hoosier writers said about him. if I'm wrong than rivals and peegs and the Indy Star are also wrong. it wouldn't be the first time.

in reading the 80 page report, this recruit initiated the entire situation. he's referred to as the recruit. his Minn football team sponsor wanted him to have a fun weekend. So he took him to his apartment and had him on the couch with the girl he knew, and then all three went to the bedroom for some sexual activity. he was the first, and he didn't take no for an answer. The entire party started as an effort to entertain the recruit with the girl. and once the recruit was finished, the others wanted to join in the fun.

I understand that. But it sounds pretty consentual. And this practice has been used for years in recruiting. Not saying I condone it though.

It appears from the report that she was a friend of the one Minn football player who brought her to his party to show the recruit a good time. She even had several shots before arriving to get in the mood. she surely knew the evening was going to involve sex, just not how much. She sat and flirted on the couch with the recruit, and then the player and girl led the recruit to his bed room. while the girl and the minn player were getting it on, the recruit came in by surprise from behind and went inside. her initial "no" was not convincing enough and meant yes to the recruit. and once he was finished, he stood at the door and encouraged others to come on down, you're the next contestant on the girl is right. All of this is included in the 80 page report. the only reason the recruit doesn't have a separate chapter was because he's not a U of minn player. I'm also not sure the school interviewed him. I know the police did and he said it was consensual and she being over 19, and he being under 18 led to a possible rape charge for her, even though he was the initiator of the sex. Also not included in the report, I have to believe the people at the party including the recruit were not drinking mellow yellow. and since the majority were first and second year players, I have to believe they were all under 21, although under age drinking charges were not filed by the police, and there was no proof for the school interviews.

Um, the report said that she was still having period symptoms and was wearing a tampon.... I definitely did not get the idea that she was wanting to have sex that night from the report.

My definition of sex includes oral. And per the report she was ready and willing to give that. Therin lies the dilemma when talking about sexual assault, rape and consent.
