IU with 8 ☆☆☆☆

Probably old news to some of you. However, I just now noticed on Rivals they are bringing in 8, 4-stars after a shitty season.

We only have 7, 4-stars in our last 3 classes. What can they possibly be selling down there?

Here we go in order of ranking per rivals (247 has 5 - 4 stars)

1. Coaches son
2. Current players brother
3. Injured knee, teams cooled off
4. Reputation for lazy, teams cooled off
5. RB is actually decent, legit pickup
6. Medium 3 star offer list
7. 2 star offer list (not sure what his story is)
8. DT was a solid last minute pickup

I think there are 4 kids from that list that are legit. I’m not sure the 4 others would have had a commit-able offer from Purdue.

#3 is definitely DM. I will say a lot of people thought that of Lawrence as well. As he would take plays off and let McDowell chew up stats. Agree with your post... 💯

8 four stars but still a one star coaching staff.

Also all but one of those 4 stars are 5.8, the lowest you can get and be a 4 star. We have 4 - 5.7s which is splitting hairs. I know this is a rivals site but some of those 4s have dropped to 3s on other sites due to injuries, etc and rivals seems to hold their ratings. The 4 star JUCO WR they have with a 2 star offer list is a head scratcher... he’s a mid 3 star on 247.

Per the current trend, if they end up being any good they will transfer, maybe to Purdue, by year 3.

I'd say the list/analysis seems pretty accurate from an IU fan perspective. And although this is our biggest haul of 4* rated players, we've not necessarily seen a lot of production out of our crops of similarly rated players over the last few years.

The only one I'd split hairs on is #2 (Mullen). His brother is on the team for sure, but his other brother went to Clemson & his cousin went to Louisville. My point is that while it certainly doesn't hurt to have Tiawan (big brother) on the team during his recruiting, that's an NFL family and I don't think it's one of those deals where it's pure bloodlines feeding into a school.

I am happy with our recruiting class from this year.

Those star ratings will go down after being in the Allen system or they will take their talents elsewhere eventually.

They played three 4-star quarterbacks this year who, collectively, weren’t as good as our walk-on QB. I’ll take our coach and his players over theirs any day.
