iu week. First off.......

I’m truly surprised by the lack of trash talk in this thread. The IU game has really become just another game it seems.
Why would any IU fan want to talk trash with Purdue fans when impending doom is just about 24 hours away for the mighty Hoosiers? Now, if IU overcomes a .00001% chance of winning and pulls off the miracle, you can expect me back, and I'll be pissed if that saves Woodie's job.

If you go over to their board, it’s just one guy who was 16 years old when he saw the only time IU made it to the F4 in his lifetime (their 2002 miraculous run), posting FDU Purdue highlights over and over. It’s a bit odd really, I think he may watch that more than IU.

While others want to beat Purdue, but know it’s a tall task and also just want woodson gone.

My honest prediction for tomorrow. We will start hot and probably be up 7-12 by the under 12 but IU sticks around because someone is hitting shots. By time we get to the under 4 it is 6-9 pt lead. We close the half hard and head into the half up by 10-15.

Second half starts with IU cutting our lead down to 6-8pts at the under 16. Then the Braden take over starts….he is wheeling and dealing and by IU is forced to take a timeout around 10 minutes when the lead is touching 20. Woody has the confused look on his face, Mgbako is searching for the nearest Taco Bell and Ballo is asking how late Harry’s stays open.

By the under 4, we have a Harris steak which leads to windmill jam by Waddell which blows the roof off Mackey. With 90 seconds left, Sam King finds Jack Lusk in the corner for 3 to push our lead to 30. Woodson calls a timeout and heads to the locker room as Goode chases him. Keady sees what’s happening and comes running onto the court and gives Woody the Stone Cold Stunner.

Police rush the court to stop the chaos and PJ steps in and calms everyone down. The police escort all IU fans back to their days jobs at McDonalds.

Chris Forman and the media team seal Woody’s blood into the floorboards - forever sealing our dominance.

The most perfect thing from all of this is...... the Harris "steak"... we all knew what you meant, but this is how I will now reference any steal from Harris.. from here it out it's a Harris Steak .. as it just fits :)

Epic.. epic.. typo.

It'll be a 20 point game by halftime.

Hopefully Painter keeps his foot on the gas and Purdue wins by about 50. Please leave no doubt. Remember the 66-0 beat down you got in football. We want to put this nightmare behind us and move onto the Brad or McCollum era.

Yeah no. We have class. Won’t happen.

Yeah no. We have class. Won’t happen.
Oh please.
  1. Matt Painter does have class.
  2. The tournament NET is dependent not solely on whether a team wins, but also on how much a team wins by.
  3. If Purdue is up a ton and a half on IU, Painter has every right and every obligation to still have Purdue try to score and defend as if the game is on the line. If Purdue is up 30 at half you can be sure that Smith, Loyer, and TKR will be on the floor to start the second half. And if they're out there they damn sure ought to be playing to their full standard and continuing to extend the lead as much as possible. That's exactly what should happen.
  4. Walk-ons play the last few minutes of the game, even if there is an absolute/early second half blowout.
  5. Just like Cignetti, who ran up the middle and played solely his second and third string against Purdue only for the last half of the fourth quarter.
Finally, as the other IU posters in this thread have said, an embarrassing loss for IU has value for both Purdue and IU. Helps IU to rip off the moldy coaching band aid with that much more force and certainty, and maybe six weeks earlier than expected. I'll be rooting hard for the Hoosiers, but if Purdue is up 25 in the second half and the Mackey crowd chants in unison "We love Woodson!" that would be an outstanding silver lining to the cloud.

I agree. One of the beauties of an anonymous internet message board is the trash talking aspect. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective) I've been banned from the iu sites for like, 10 years now. They're easy triggered over there and don't like having their feelings hurt.

Brad who?

That's disappointing. Class, smass...if you have the chance to absolutely demoralize and embarrass iu, you do it . Put your foot on their throat and then when they're way down and out, give them a few kicks for good measure. Then....POTFH.

If Purdue is up 30 then at the 10 minute mark of the second half Painter will sit the starters.

Not at the risk of injuring one of our players.. all it would take to tank the season is Smith rolling an ankle or .. breaking a leg. Not worth it overall as the "W" is the same whether we win by 1 or 100.

Another loss to us likely puts the final nail in Woodson's coffin anyway .. and I wouldn't be shocked if he is canned next week as a result. Not sure anyone could coach Indinia any worse.

He'd sit Braden for sure, maybe Fletch and / or Trey. I think his standard MO is to pull a few guys at the 10 minute mark and let some of the younger guys in the regular rotation get run. At the five minute mark he generally inserts BW and Will if the lead is 20+.

Would love to see Colvin go on a second half heater from 3 and stretch a 20 point lead out to about 35 in 3 minutes.

In addition to what others said, our coach is unfortunately (well fortunately actually), classy and doesn’t run up scores. But maybe he will change his mind…but more than likely he will rest starters if we are up 20, so doubtful we get up to even 30. Plus Woody, much like Cignetti, plays the NET game to make sure games don’t look too out of hand when they lose and when will play starters no matter the deficit to make sure it wasn’t AS Bad as it really was

Huh... Hasn't seemed to work well for Woody too well considering IU has lost so many games by 15+.

Cignetti didn't have any offense or defense first teamers in that game for the last 12 minutes of the game. Football is different; the IU defensive backups held Purdue's starters scoreless in the fourth while causing two turnovers. In basketball walk-ons and third stringers just don't have the juice to play with first team scholarship players.

Agree. In football you've got at most 44 guys who regularly get real minutes on offense and defense (at most, some starters don't come off the field) and 85 scholarship players. Purdue basketball has 9 guys who play regular minutes out of 11 active scholarship players (excluding injury and redshirt). Berg and Wadell are the other two and can hold their own but beyond that it's guys who are only going to play the last minute or two in a blowout.

Exactly - expect that if the game is a blowout, the greatest increase in minutes will go to Harris, Colvin, Heide, and Burgess. And then if it's still out of hand in the last five minutes, Berg and Wardell will get more run than usual.
