iu week. First off.......

As GM he has ability to fire coaches and coaching staff when things aren’t working which buys him an additional year or 2. Being the coach in college again, bullseye is square in his back.

Curious about his wife being his agent. Didn’t know that.
Yeah she negotiated his contract with the Celtics. But I don’t get why she would want him to go back to Indiana? He’s from Zionsville and she’s from Ohio. Their son goes to ND (walk on with shrews), so maybe be closer to him—can’t imagine she can’t just hop on a PJ whenever to see him. And SB is like 2.5-3hr drive from btown?

Unless he is ITCHING to coach again at the ncaa level, I just don’t get why he’d want to go to IU

No no! It’s IU! Don’t you know?! Who wouldn’t want to step down from the pinnacle of the industry you’re in where you’ve been very successful to a lower level where you have to work so much more?!
Yeah that is where their fan base is delusional - IU was good 30 years ago - it’s a rebuild with a rabid fanbase living in the past. You can never make them happy. If you are any top tier coach that doesn’t sound appealing at all. Sure they will offer a boat load of money - did the same with their NIL offseason - but you would think weighing the pros and cons of that gig isn’t all that appealing anymore

And cignetti has screwed over any future bball coach because expectations will
Be that the bball coach HAS to take IU to the Final 4 first year cuz cignetti did it, so why can’t the new bball coach!?

Ok so back to the topic at hand. Will be curious how IU plays today against Maryland because they have been clicking lately.

I am glad we get a week to rest and get ready. I think we will come out motivated and ready to crush them.

Still think this is the triple double game for Braden.

We have to stop the Ballo pick and roll - that’s their offense. Terrible at shooting the 3. Galloway has no confidence in his shot but Goode can get hot from 3 and go off. Reneau doesn’t look 100 percent yet.

Been watching the Maryland game and they run a lot of PNR at the top of the key. Whatever we do on rotations, don’t leave Goode, let Galloway take as many 3s as he wants.

I’m sure we will force a high hedge to disrupt that action, similar to what we did against Michigan.

What makes you think he thought about it? Here’s what he said.

"I said it the other day: I'm not [considering it]," Stevens said last month. “And I tried to say it as clearly as I could…”
And Nick Saban wasn't taking the Alabama job. He was never going to say, "Yea I really thought about but ended up doing this instead of."

Let’s bury them. If it means that Woodson gets fired for getting buried by his in state rival, so be it. Their athletic administration has done such a bang up job in hiring head coaches at Coaching Buyout U, I am not worried about who they would bring in.
Woodson will probably get fired but losing to Purdue will be only a small part of it.

I'd rather just beat them twice than worry about burying them in our home game.

No, 12 years since he coached. And he didn’t even listen to IU 4 years ago.

Most Kids these days have no idea who Stevens is. NIL has changed the game and he would have to switch up everything he knew and was successful at and the IU faithful would NOT tolerate that…especially if it took 3-4 years to get to the second weekend.
They know who he is because it's not been too long since he was coaching the Celtics and he's still the GM of the Celtics. He's probably one of the very few GMs anyone really knows.

He still has an insane amount of stress. That has never went away for him. He's still gotta worry about winning or getting fired. Still has to worry about a lot more egos and way bigger egos. Gotta worry about contacts, years, signing, waiving dudes, the g-league, drafting etc. Could he wasn't too coach again? Maybe. I don't talk to him. I'm not sure what he makes as GM. I know Indiana offered him 70M. They'd probably do that again. Gotta focus more on the wife though.
LOL. He has 2 of the top 10-15 players in the world under contract through their primes, for the next 4-5 years. Plus 3 other top 50ish guys.

He’s not leaving to play the NIL/Portal Revolving Door Free Agency game at IU.

I think he's got a big weight off his shoulders after winning the title. So probably feels he can do whatever and it not matter. Stay as GM, coach another NBA team, coach college. It's whatever. And nowadays, coaching in college basketball is like being a GM that coaches.

IU fans dreaming of Brad Stevens…when he will never coach there…a tale as old as time.

Can IU even offer him as much money as he's making with the Celtics?

In terms of status, it would be a step down for nearly anyone in the basketball world. He would have to really covet that position to make the move and he's already passed on it before.

Lastly, the last time he coached in college, NIL and transfer portal weren't really a thing and his runs at Butler were made with teams that don't really adhere to the current model...and the way IU has built teams recently.

Don't get me wrong. If they can land him it would be a great move? How great? Don't know. But I find it unlikely and I don't think it would be the same as it would've been 10 years ago.

Dude hahaha. He coached 12 years ago. Kids that he’d be recruiting in HS would have been 5 when he last coached at butler. Those same kids would also have to follow the nba to know the GM names and even then, highly doubtful a majority of them know who he is.

Yes IU would offer whatever they could because they want to be back like they were 40 years ago.

They run a lot pnr and it's the laziest one you could imagine. It's first day of junior high practice speed.

Nah I’ve been assured by many iu fans that making the S16 5 times in 7 years isn’t that big of feat. So I think, yet again, you’re mistaken and you don’t know your own fan base.
IU hasn't even made the tournament in 5 of 7 years since like 2008? Let alone the second weekend which they haven't even gone to 5 times in the 2000's.

Funny how playing us has become their NCAA March Madness.

Do you think they will accept that NIT invite this year or will they sit out another March tournament season?

Ballo will get his in the paint same way Golden and Wolf did last night. The key is to disrupt him by throwing doubles and getting out in transition. Also, Painter will throw TKR on him to see if he will pick up some cheap fouls and neutralize him that way.

Ballo’s doesn’t have the ability to get up and run for 30+ minutes.

Last thing - they play Sunday before getting a couple of extra rest days before they come to town.
Watched indiana play today. Mgbako is very lazy and slow to get back. How bout we have Heide and Furst get a bunch of alley oops in transition? Either will get an easy basket or ballo will have to foul.

I actually tried looking up what he makes as GM. Couldn't find anything. But Indiana was willing to offer $10M a year.

Purdue our March Madness? Lol. We really don't care. We are just waiting to get the season over with. And they will definitely decline an NIT bid if they can even get one.

Yea Sampson's pimps and drug dealers really threw things off an extra bit... And the administration. They got what they wanted.

POTFH. I took them to win today and it was the only leg out of 7 that lost. F&*% em. Stupid turnover, Girlaway missing the front end of a 1-and-1, and no idea what to do on their last possession.

Lololol the last minute of that game was hilarious to watch. IU blew that game.

IU had a foul to give. Don’t use it. And Maryland hits a 3.

5th year SR Galloway, who IU fans claimed has always been a good shooter, misses the front end of the 1 and 1. But no one will talk about how rice (another IU pg we were told was better and had a higher iq than smith), a 90% FT shooter, passes it off to Galloway, a 65% FT shooter.

And then the first OOB play was Reneau trying to drive from practically the 3pt line???? Then they try to sub 3 different guys, one being Ballo (???), and with all the confusion, rice panics, goes to the corner and shoots a turnaround fadeaway 3 and they lose 😂 😂
