they do what they have to good for them. Now in regards to 5 - 5 Michigan, doesn't seem like they reloaded too well. Don't think too much of their coach My Sherrona, we criticized and rightfully so our play calling in the redzone but how about Mich bland play calling. Inside the 6 or 7 3X's and the first 2 plays each series are runs up the middle, then bring in the "athletic" QB in so you know it's gonna be another run by one of their marginal qb's. So they got 2 FG's and one TD on a 4th down run ( 13 points). How does a program like Mich not have a really good QB and no difference makers at WR, basically throw to TE's.Michigan losing is with being happy for IU
This season is once in a lifetime for them. They are enjoying the moment while our program continues its downward spiral.Michigan losing is with being happy for IU
Cignetti proving you can win without huge NIL money.Michigan losing is with being happy for IU
And when his teams don't play well, he and his staff do a great job of managing the games and maintaining control .......Cignetti proving you can win without huge NIL money.
In no way does he have a more talented roster than Michigan, in terms of NIL money, future NFL draft picks, or by any other metric. And when his teams don't play well, he and his staff do a great job of managing the games and maintaining control .......
Agreed, New Pal.....In no way does he have a more talented roster than Michigan, in terms of NIL money, future NFL draft picks, or by any other metric.
But he found a way to win today.
Agree on beating OSU.In all seriousness, I know exactly one person who I would classify as an IU football fan (not one that cheers for ND football every season and pretends to be an IU fan when they happen to have a decent year) and I am very happy for that person to experience this season.
Also, thus far I have no real reason to dislike Cignetti. Seems like the kind of coach I wish we had hired or will hire next.
Having said all that, I think they need to beat Ohio State to deserve a playoff bid. Their non-conference schedule has been brutal and their conference schedule, which is admittedly is beyond their control, has been about as bad as it can be also. You can't tell me that if they finish with one loss and no BTCG, that they deserve to be in over some of those 2-loss SEC teams. I don't think they'd beat any top-half SEC team. And let's not forget they had Louisville on the schedule and bought that game out. I don't think that's what we want to reward with the benefit of the doubt.
Why didn’t we look at Cignetti???? I don’t remember his name on any of the leaked lists. In and of itself the omission of him from consideration is malpracticeIn all seriousness, I know exactly one person who I would classify as an IU football fan (not one that cheers for ND football every season and pretends to be an IU fan when they happen to have a decent year) and I am very happy for that person to experience this season.

Easy to see now but James Madison had only one season at the FBS level at that point. Prior to that he had been winning at the FCS level. Not sure he was high on many P5 radars at that point. Why didn’t we look at Cignetti???? I don’t remember his name on any of the leaked lists. If the game is close and lose then they probably deserve to be in for consideration.Agree on beating OSU.
Don’t think 11-1 and losing to the only ranked team in your schedule will be or should be good enough. And if they lose to OSU they’ll be out of the championship game.
If they indeed make it to Indy it will be interesting to see if they show out and support their team. Sadly when we went, the CG was NOT well attended by Purdue fans even though we were an hour from campus and we mostly knew it would be our last time in a long time we’d go.
I agree they need to beat OSU to deserve it but honestly they got it already. I do expect the sec and big10 will each have 4 plus one each from 3 other conferences and Notre dame. I don’t see any other team that strikes me as worthy from any other conference unless something crazy happens in the conference champions games like smu winning acc.In all seriousness, I know exactly one person who I would classify as an IU football fan (not one that cheers for ND football every season and pretends to be an IU fan when they happen to have a decent year) and I am very happy for that person to experience this season.

How do you know there was not huge NIL money?Cignetti proving you can win without huge NIL money.
Nobody looked at Cignetti. I think that's why he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Along with his JMU guys Sarratt, Kamara, Fisher, Lawton etc who weren't recruited by the Virginia's and Virginia Techs. Why didn’t we look at Cignetti???? I don’t remember his name on any of the leaked lists. In and of itself the omission of him from consideration is malpractice
I’ve seen estimates of their NIL totals, and then you subtract the huge NIL deals that their basketball players have, and they don’t have 8 figures left over. How do you know there was not huge NIL money?
If they are competitive against OSU, I think they deserve a bid. If they get run off the field, who knows. But I don’t think they will.In all seriousness, I know exactly one person who I would classify as an IU football fan (not one that cheers for ND football every season and pretends to be an IU fan when they happen to have a decent year) and I am very happy for that person to experience this season.

IU will beat OSU....If they are competitive against OSU, I think they deserve a bid. If they get run off the field, who knows. But I don’t think they will.
I will. It's a major step up from anything they've seen or done this season.I won’t be shocked if they do.
Cignetti is the fifth oldest head coach in P5. Most new coaching hires have been younger.Nobody looked at Cignetti. I think that's why he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Along with his JMU guys Sarratt, Kamara, Fisher, Lawton etc who weren't recruited by the Virginia's and Virginia Techs.
Yeah, we know.Cignetti is the fifth oldest head coach in P5. Most new coaching hires have been younger.
It’s a primary reason I was answering the question. And I doubt no one looked at him. I’m happy for indianas success but this could also be another 2020. They have beat one team with a winning record (Nebraska at 5-4 who has won 2 big ten games. They barely beat a bad Michigan team at home with some questionable calls. Sagarin Computer rankings still have them around 12 which i think is fair. Ohio state is their first real test.Yeah, we know.
I think OSU wins, but I think IU competes. Unlike us.I will. It's a major step up from anything they've seen or done this season.
Oh for sure they will represent much better than we did. Might even hang in there. Just don't think they will win in the Shoe.I think OSU wins, but I think IU competes. Unlike us.
I hope they beat us by 60.Oh for sure they will represent much better than we did. Might even hang in there. Just don't think they will win in the Shoe.

No one was going after the 13 JMU guys, tho some of them certainly should have gotten more interest in hindsight.
On an anecdotal level, I know one of Rourke’s family members, and he didn’t get Ward/Howard money. He comes from a great family. I’m rooting for him.
All B1G schools have NIL money and six figure players, my point is that IU is not wildly outspending us (or a bunch of other B1G teams), but that they are spending on proven producers, whereas we are spending on Georgia washouts with “potential” because they were 4 or 5 stars in high school, and on undersized pass rushers who are now playing out of position at LB.Not to start something, but Cig has said he's more then happy with the NIL pool he can pull from.
We're not pulling in Ohio State totals by any means, but we're definitely competitive. Look no further then us beating out schools like Michigan, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Colorado and Miami, among others for defensive tackle CJ West. That recruitment definitely had NIL attached to it.
As far as no one wanting JMU players, DeAngelo Ponds says hi.
Do you know if any btn schools have 7-figure players yet?All B1G schools have NIL money and six figure players, my point is that IU is not wildly outspending us (or a bunch of other B1G teams), but that they are spending on proven producers, whereas we are spending on Georgia washouts with “potential” because they were 4 or 5 stars in high school, and on undersized pass rushers who are now playing out of position at LB.
I believe Gabriel and Howard are. And that safety that OSU poached from Alabama cost a fortune also.Do you know if any btn schools have 7-figure players yet?
Have gotten to talk to some of the JMU transfers parents while at games and tailgating this season.Nobody looked at Cignetti. I think that's why he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Along with his JMU guys Sarratt, Kamara, Fisher, Lawton etc who weren't recruited by the Virginia's and Virginia Techs.
Why are the IU hoops mercenaries getting paid so much more that the footballers? Because Cuban likes hoops?Have gotten to talk to some of the JMU transfers parents while at games and tailgating this season.
Seems none were recruited by UVA or VT coming out of high school, but most were contacted, and wanted by them while in the portal last December. They shed some light on the NIL process too.
Sarratt is a real interesting case in that he transferred into JMU having come from St Francis of PA. Safe to say, he had even fewer offers than the guys who started at JMU.
My guess would be, A, theres less players, and B, they got those deals before Cignetti got things rolling. Why are the IU hoops mercenaries getting paid so much more that the footballers? Because Cuban likes hoops?
Sounds reasonable - but yet somehow I think the despicable CCP appeaser Cuban is involved. My guess would be, A, theres less players, and B, they got those deals before Cignetti got things rolling.
I am guessing they might divvy it up slightly differently moving forward…
I am an IU fan but I would be surprised if they beat OSU. Anything can happen, but odds are against it. Just hope it's reasonably close.I will. It's a major step up from anything they've seen or done this season.
And then there’s IU starting defensive tackle James Carpenter.Have gotten to talk to some of the JMU transfers parents while at games and tailgating this season.

He began his college career with his first two years as a walk on at JMU.
