IU fires OC and Allen takes pay cut

The IU forums will convince themselves with the money saved in Allen's cut, IU can now hire Luke Fickell as OC.
Wait for it. Their boards are really going to be fun to watch the next couple of weeks.
They are probably still thinking they are getting Brad Stevens someday too
Allen was told he was firing the guy he just extended 8 months ago and that he would be funding part of it through a publicly announced pay cut. Scott Frost had to do the same thing in order to quiet the critics. It’s short term thinking, all PR, and it rarely works. It’s akin to selling the furniture to pay the rent. Eventually, you run out of furniture and end up sleeping and eating on the floor. Their AD, who doesn’t know a thing about football other than tailgating, is going to get exposed. He’d better hope Woodson succeeds or he’ll be next.
Allen is taking a $200,000 pay cut for 3 year, which he still will make $4.7 million a year. He is signed through 2027. As Ace Ventura would say, good call.

I've never heard of a HC taking a pay cut to manage a buyout for an assistant.
Somebody will surely suggest that they hire Brad Stevens...
I already saw them suggesting Dan Mullen...Matt Nagy...before it is all said and done, Bruce Arians' name will come up.
Equivalent move of Brohm firing Diaco...props to him for acting as quickly as he did to account for his mistake, just as Brohm did a year ago.
Brohm fired Holt to get Diaco...Allen HAD to find a replacement, so, situation was a little different in that regard. Just as it would have to be that Brohm knew the firing was going to occur, it is likely that Allen knew the same.
Ironic that Brohm with his offense background had trouble with DC and Allen with his defense background had trouble with OC...as both realize now how important it is to have someone on that side of the ball capable of performing and complementing their respective strengths on their side.
The bigger key for Allen is keeping guys from leaving and maintaining his recruiting class...that is paramount...then he needs to find a capable OC.
