It really does not matter who the QB is for us when we have that type of play calling by the OC. The play calling was way too conservative. With our record of the last few years, we don't have that luxury. We need to play to win, not to lose. In the first half, we ran swing plays and screen pass on every throw for I don't know how many plays. This might be ok if we had some speed, but we don't have the speed of last year.

I thought the OL played the best that I have seen an OL play for us for a while. However, it was hard to judge them completely, because of these short pass plays. We never went into the middle of the field (with the rarest of exceptions) on pass plays. They were always on the sidelines. It allows the defense to cheat so to speak on pass plays.

Now, Appleby seems to always go to his primary read. This might be him, but it might be a requirement of the system; I am not sure. I know people will say let's give Blough a try now. However, his greatest strength is being able to create. Who says that Hazell and Shoop will allow that. Tiller never liked when Kirsch did that in 2002. They wanted him to play to the system. They stopped that creativity that he had with his legs. Blough might be forced to play to the system also. If that is the case, a pro style QB works better with the OL, which is Appleby (or Sindelar which I am not sure is a good idea to do this year in what happened to Etling a couple of years back).

Looking forward to the day when the new kid from Kentucky gets his chance.

Play calling & and clock management . OC seemed clueless during fourth quarter. Not having any film on Birdsong had to hurt too. Good luck with rest of season!

back).

Purdue played to lose. Those conservative play calls just plain sucked. I want the Tiller offense back. That's how u score points in college football. If purdue wins any games this year it is going to have to be defense. We'll have to hold every opponent to virtually zero points to have a chance to win. With an offense that throws more interceptions and pick 6's than TD's it pretty much shows how this season is gonna go. I can't remember ever seeing a season start out pick six styled. That's quite a sign for things to come. Beer and laughs...might be the best approach this year.

Honestly, as a Marshall fan, I didn't see why you guys didn't run it down our throat. You guys will have some success this season and you deserve credit for doing something very few major conference schools have done: Have the character and dignity to treat a good mid-major fairly and travel to our place, even though it is a difficult place to play. I really enjoyed seeing your fans and will root for you the rest of the season. You should be encouraged Marshall isn't a bad team...we've won more that ten games two seasons in a row and were top 25 last year. I know it is hard to believe but you playing Virginia Tech at home is a much more favorable matchup than Marshall on the road.

Don't worry about the two pick sixes. There is a very selective memory about you guys beating us by 10 at your place because our young quarterback threw BACK TO BACK pick sixes. And Rakeem Cato worked out just fine for us.

God bless. Keep the faith. I'll be rooting for you.

I think we all remember that game we won over Marhall just fine. That Purdue team was far better than this one, but lost 7 games, with many of them being total embarrassments or choke jobs...and we are all wishing we could be back at that level. Sad.
