Is this 2017 team the best that Painter ever had?

Admittedly, I was one of those at the beginning of the year that thought last year's team was better than this years squad. Biggie man!

However, I'll eat my humble pie and admit I was wrong. While we don't have anyone on this year's squad that is better than Biggie, this year's team plays with a balance and more threats on the floor than I can ever recall. This year, it feels like we have 4 really good #1 options (Isaac, Vince, Carsen, Dakota) and I also think our bench (Eastern, Haarms, Cline) is better than last year's bench.

The beauty of this year's squad is that you can't predict who will be the leading scorer from game to game. We run things through Isaac, but we don't force up shots. We run offense beautifully and the open player takes the shot (e.g. the defense dictates how we beat you).

Our bench brings great energy, defense, occasional scoring and plays smart.

Your poor reading comprehension suggests you are likely not a Purdue grad.

Your consistently poor analysis and underestimation of Purdue (current BIG leader AND defending champion) relative to your infatuation with IU and MSU further suggests you are a bandwagoneer whose proper long term place is with the other Walmart Hoosier fans

While you hang out here to grab a piece of Purdue success to brighten up your sad fair-weather life, please show some awareness to the core Purdue fanbase who use these boards

But then again, if you had any awareness, you wouldn't be the idiot that you are
Your consistently awful takes and fabricated lies suggest to me you're a hs dropout. Where have i ever been infatuated with iu or msu? Find one quote that would suggest it. And if calling out your idiocy for "passing the torch" is evidence then you're even less intelligent then i thought(hint: i never thought You were smart in the first place).

Its funny you say i have a sad life without even knowing me, that would clearly indicate to me that you're miserable and trying to bring me down to your level, while the only satisfaction you receive in life is from a team you could only dream of playing for, with people that don't know or care about you.

It is hard to bring you down to my level when your head is stuck so high up your ass

It is rather entertaining watching an idiot embarrass yourself, so please continue posting your wonderful thoughts about me, about Purdue, about life in general on this thread.

I may not always have the time to reply to you, but it would be a shame for you to stop

I am going to preface this by saying I am a huge Biggie fan and will always appreciate what he did for the program. But I think the better question is, would this team be better as is or with Biggie this year?

Don't worry I'm going anywhere. I will most definitely continue posting. Plus it's fun to call you out on your stupid takes.

This team would be even better with Biggie, but a very good player would need to be coming off the bench.

Purdue/Painter absolutely has to get to an elite eight this season, anything less is a big failure in my opinion. This team probably is the best shot for a Final Four for a while unless better talent comes in the future

The main competition would be the Baby Boilers and last year's 2016 team.

The Baby Boilers however, had the Hummel injury and we never got to see the full team in the business end of their upperclassman seasons.

The difference between last year and this year would be:

1. Minus Swanigan, Painter's best player to date and a NPOY finalist

2. Plus an extra year of experience for six players who have started in some point of their careers. The combined 278 career starts for the returners is the most ever Painter had, and one of the most in school history. - Vince (92 career starts), PJ (60 career starts), Mathias (57 career starts), Haas (41 career starts), Carsen (21 career starts), Cline (7 career starts).

3. Plus Jacquil Taylor, Nojel Eastern, and the new recruits of which Haarms or Ewing are the most likely contributors

I can understand arguments for either - some will say Swanigan is a generational player who cannot be replaced. I lean towards arguing that the gain in experience and athleticism can make up for the huge hole Swanigan left and we may end up with an even better team.

My expectations are lofty - I see the FLOOR as 2nd in the BIG and Sweet 16.

Flip a coin between the 2009-10 team and 2017-18 squad to see which one would win. 09-10 had little frontcourt depth with no true Center. Chris Kramer is the best defensive player under Painter regardless of class. He took over games on the defensive end. The 2009-10 team was better defensively and this year’s team is better on the offensive end.

Only if his individual defense fits into the team defense now being played by our mighty team.
I don’t know. His teammates would still be improved and Purdue was the Big Ten Champion last season. He might have some trouble in some matchups, but he would certainly come back improved once again and would help Purdue on the boards and on offense. He would be a first team All American in all likelihood and I cannot believe that Purdue wouldn’t be even better than it is now.

Literally all of your takes have been hilariously wrong. It's funny how you can be so wrong yet try and claim other people don't know what they're talking about.
