He should be...and if his last name was not Pitino, he would be on his way out...maybe he is even despite that...I have watched them twice, most recently on Saturday against IU...they are not just a really bad basketball team, but they are poorly coached as well...truth be told, watching them (and Rutgers for that matter) reminded me a lot of watching Hazell and Purdue football. They are an absolute mess.
I don't think a guy gets "in trouble" for 1/3 of a season gone terribly wrong... I think you have to take a longer viewpoint than that. Was Painter in trouble in middle of 2013 when he had a stretch of 5 losses in 6 games? Pitino is one of the youngest coaches in the B1G; I think it's way too early for UM to give up on him (if that's what you meant by trouble). They are an absolute mess.
They are going to give him 2 more years, and if they don't win more than 20% of their games the AD is going to force him to fire the water distribution engineer.
You may be right but Tubby left some decent players and the last of that group leaves after this year. But worse than that they just don't play very good basketball. Hey I'm fine with him staying and I understand he has a decent recruiting class but at some point you have to wonder.I don't think a guy gets "in trouble" for 1/3 of a season gone terribly wrong... I don't find a lot of value in the Hazell bashing, but the situations are very similar. Both programs had a coach who was giving consistent mediocre results and the fans were not happy with them. They took a shot on the mysterious stranger with catastrophic results.
