Interesting to see their fans' thoughts on our team. It seems a lot of them are basing their opinions on just the Vermont game. A few of them seem confused about our ability to hit outside shots, the defensive ability of DM, and whether IH is capable of not being a total stiff. Granted IH has not played well lately, but some of the comments are over the top and lack context. They appear to be a confident bunch - I'll give them that.

They'll know more tomorrow.

What their fans know vs what their coaches know can be 2 different things. I agree though, their fans don't think much of Haas and didn't say much about CE. I'd love to see IH get in rhythm early. If he goes off like he's capable, it could change their player rotation.

I think some of this confidence is their belief in small ball vs going big. It makes sense, given the recent teams both ISU and Purdue have had these past few years, that they'd be on opposite sides of this topic. It's a bball culture war of sorts. I'm very excited to see how it plays out as a fan of CBB

Isaac has to score on offense and draw fouls because he will be a liability on defense in this game. Can't miss bunnies like he did against Vermont (although his rebound of his missed dunk was pretty neat).

Haven't seen hem play but if they're anything like Prohm's teams at Murray State they're all qb out wide open O with little D.

Nice work again!

This is typical what we deal with from ISU who you may not realize this but they invented the game of basketball. They spend the season lauding themselves and always operate with a high degree of character.

This was posted by one of our Hawks to highlight the typical Morris antics that as his coach says 'they do a great job representing the university'. Not sure Morris is as good as he thinks he is and told he is by ISU fans but....

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Monte Morris likely will go on to play in the NBA.

P.J. Thompson likely will not.

And Morris made sure to remind Thompson of that Saturday in the trash talking that littered the second-round matchup of fourth-seeded Purdue and No. 5 seed Iowa State.

“You’re going to be an overseas guy,” Iowa State’s senior, who called himself the best point guard in the country Friday, told Thompson during the course of the game.

Well he will be playing in the NBA - the kid is a baller.

We won they didn't. That's all that matters.

On to the next one

PJ actually responded, "I'm going to be an over seas guy - and I'm going to win games. I can tell you that."

Shut up And1Hawk. Purdue fans, this Iowa troll is typical of the reason why we had to shut down our free boards several years ago. He's butt-hurt that the ISU basketball program has surpassed Iowa's over the past several years. Back to Purdue and ISU, the Cyclone Fanatic boards are out of control, and are not the best source of opinions from 'learned' ISU fans. The message board on the ISU Rivals site is better, we just don't have a free board anymore due to the reason stated above. I am an ISU fan that lived in West Lafayette (the subdivision just north of Harrison high school) for a few years while I was working in that area. Good luck advancing in the tournament.

Sad to hear Morris make a comment like that to PJ. However, I will say this after seeing Monte play the last 2 games (only 2 college games I will ever see him play...). He is absolutely fantastic and probably already better than 1/3 of starting NBA point guards. If ISU was smart they'd have utilized him more in the first half. This guy is lights out shooter, incredible poise, and I'd love him on my team any day of the year. Nothing wrong with confidence, especially when you have all the tools... Any NBA team lucky enough to get him is gonna be very happy. Us beating Deonte Burton (beast), Morris, and ared hot Thomas, shows that we can BEAT any team in the nation. Can't wait until Thursday. Go Boilers...

Geez ! No wonder PJ was so clutch at the end of the game. That also had to feel pretty damn good for him to first hit the dagger and then turn the lights out. I can now guess the tweets and texts heading Monte's way. Something like: Yeah, that may be true, but one of us will be playing next weekend and one of us will be watching ! ! Wrap your head around that . . if you can.

Never a smart move to provide bulletin board material - seems to come back to bite you more times than not. Good for PJ ! ! !

What's amazing is that even after the loss, their board is basically all positive. We won and people were still complaining about stuff.

There's not a single thread about their coach - and actually there's one, about how he's underpaid.

All I can say to Ioweenies of either persuasion is enjoy shucking corn the rest of the tournament.

For a team that led all of like 12 seconds of the game they are pretty convinced they are better and only lost because of refs/luck/(insert excuse here). Personally, if they want to play the "if" game, I think they're pretty damn lucky that we sat Swanigan as long as we did in the second half and allowed them back in the game.

They're a pretty good team but seems many of them are a bit delusional regarding just how good they are.

IU- Iowa State cross breeding will do that.....

Purdue missed a lot of open. 3s in the second half that would have killed that rally as well.

Are you referencing Harrison Highlands?

GBI had a featured piece with PJ before the game about it..You know how good natured PJ is...He just laughed and talked about how good the other kid was and said he told him he was right about PJ not playing for NBA but that he would be playing overseas...and when he did he would be winning...lol! It's still on Home Page I believe...

Morris will be a great player...for the Mad Ants...
Right now, Morris would get eaten up by most of the leagues pg's. When there is similar speed and talent, I don't see him being able to do what he does in college. Could you imagine Morris trying to defend Westbrook, Thomas, Curry, or Chris Paul? Morris might stick as a bench guy but he is far from a starter on any team of relevance in the NBA. If you want to see a high level NBA pg in college this year, Lonzo Ball, Frank Mason, and the kid from UK are it.

Ball I agree with, but I don't see Mason having sure success in the NBA. The top 3 PG prospects appear to be Fultz, Ball, and Dennis Smith Jr., with Fox from UK in the second tier. Mason is only about 5'11", which is really short for an NBA guard.

Only time and work ethic will tell. A guy like Etwaun has only had a career because he was willing to do the work. Same for the others mentioned. Maybe the Morris kid's Mom can get together for some marketing tips from Lonzo's Dad.

I would argue that Etwaun was underrated coming out of college. He never got a lot of the credit/attention he deserved. But yes, he's worked hard and as a couple coaches have said about him....he knew how to play defense coming out of college.

And Etwaun is 6'4", not 5'11"

Yogi and Isaiah are under 6' also. Doesn't seem to hurt them. Haven't seen Mason enough to know if he's on their level, but I couldn't believe Yogi didn't get drafted. Reminds me of the importance that NFL scouts put on QB height. Yes it helps, but only if you can play.

Ugh, don't get me started on the NFL draft. It's amazing how many stupid decisions teams make - particularly with the QB position.

Not disagreeing with you at the very least a second round flier on a short guy, but it seems the shorter guys who make it are usually more of the exception.

I thought Yogi was definitely worth a late first round, but definitely a second round flier on a very productive college player.

Didn't think about Mason's size when making that comment.
