If the NCAA tourney was in January, Iowa would probably win it... They look great.Me too. Screw sparty, Izzo looks like he's gonna pop a vessel. I love it! In front of their homey crowd. Pray they hold onto it.
I think Purdue and MSU compete for more recruits than Purdue and Iowa...gotta pull for Iowa on THIS game...I'm pulling for Iowa. Can't get myself to root for MSU.
I thought last years team kind of did. We finished 3rd in the league when we were picked at the bottom. The first year of the Baby boilers for sure. The frustrating apart about watching Iowa, is my first thoughts are "when was the last time a Purdue team came out of nowhere and played like this?" Maybe 1995? That was, sadly for me, before my time in the Purdue "fold".
Maybe I should "manage my expectations" more .I thought last years team kind of did. We finished 3rd in the league when we were picked at the bottom. The first year of the Baby boilers for sure.
Iowa also has 4 seniors that play a lot. When was the last time Purdue had 4?Maybe I should "manage my expectations" more .
I really expected the 2007 team to be pretty good (but you're right - they were better than even I expected). I guess last year was a pleasant surprise, but it even started off pretty poorly. I would also argue Iowa is playing better now than Purdue did for any extended period last year. I'm just naturally a cynic - I can't help it. Although, I still have great expectations for this team - the talent is truly the best we've had since the Hummel-Johnson-Moore-Kramer-Grant team.

Didn't Iowa lose an even bigger lead at Iowa State? The important thing is that Purdue learns from the experience like Iowa did. Purdue seemed to push the ball over the 10-second line quicker against PSU. That would help more against Iowa's 1-2 press.I said it after the Iowa/Purdue game. That kind of comeback/collapse can really affect a team's confidence. Iowa feels like they can go into any building right now and win like they're doing tonight. Purdue looked tentative and shaky against a undermanned Illinois team and lost. Psychologically I think the second half of that game greatly affected both teams.
Shhh....you'll mess with their rhetoric.Didn't Iowa lose an even bigger lead at Iowa State? The important thing is that Purdue learns from the experience like Iowa did. Purdue seemed to push the ball over the 10-second line quicker against PSU. That would help more against Iowa's 1-2 press.
Izzo is a real damn disappointment as a coach. If they wait 'til the end of the season to fire him it will surprise me.
