Gonna try out something new here at this game since both Casey and I are in attendance. Just going to post some quick halftime stats and observations:
  • Iowa is selling out everything to stop Edey once he gets the ball. They have even triple teamed him a few times. As a result, he has only 4 points, but 8 rebounds.
  • On the same point, both teams are getting away with a lot as there were only six personal fouls called in the half. The rarely used Josh Ogundele, a 6'10" 275 pound junior for Iowa, was sent in for the first time since December 21st in the loss to Eastern Illinois. He got a basket and was... physical with Edey to say the least.
  • Purdue's freshman backcourt started strong and carried the game at both the start and end of the half. Loyer has seven points and Braden Smith closed the half while beating the second half shot clock.
  • Mason Gillis hit a pair of threes and has 8 at the half.
  • Iowa is just 10 of 34 from the floor and 1 of 10 from three. That includes three airballed threes.
