No. I just work with a bunch of IU people is all and not looking forward to tomorrow morning and then some.

I hope so. Crean's contract is up in 4 years so it's time for an extension.

If we have to eat a game to get it. So be it.

Quite impressive how they've climbed up to #22 from preseason #15. No one should be surprised by their success. They are more talented than nearly everyone on their schedule, which by the way is the easiest schedule in the big ten. I fully expect them to disappoint in the postseason.

Our style of play slows them down & gets them out of their comfort zone. They won't be able to handle our size. It's going to be the same story from the past 3 times we've beaten them. Keep embarrassing yourself though.

If them playing well presents that much of an issue where you work then you need to seek an improved perspective or a different place of employment. I mean, they didn't even beat us and haven't in years. They are a dangerous team and they might beat us in Bloomington (where nobody has beaten them this season so far) and it would not be a big deal.

I am looking forward to the game. We have little to lose but get an opportunity to put a big dent in their title hopes. If we lose, tell your coworkers that IU looked good and you hope we play again in the BTT. It won't kill to show some class even if the gesture has never or will never be reciprocated.

How dare you espouse such a mature, articulate attitude on this board!!
GREAT post -- It's frightening how weak-minded we all can be sometimes...

Or stop working at McDonalds with all the IU fans and alums.

They shoot better, move the ball better and are more aggressive
When you play against a bad team, or a good team playing badly, you step on their neck. did you watch Purdue against Rutgers? Basketball is not transitive. It is about how you matchup to your opponent. We pose a terrible matchup for IU. Nuff said.

I, too, feel like Indiana is rounding into a very good team. Their two games against Wisconsin do seem to suggest they can be brought back down to earth by physical play. That said, I have a really hard time seeing Purdue win that game. Too many factors stacked against the Boilers in this one. If Purdue does win, our guys will have earned it.

I think a lot (probably too much) has been made out of their early non-conference losses and favorable conference schedule. I'm really surprised they're still ranked as low as they are.

I would be hard pressed to identify a B1G team not named Iowa that is playing better right now.

Purdue is a bad match-up for IU and I fully expect to see Purdue on top when they play. Hammons and Haas present a lot of problems and will totally negate the effectiveness of IU driving the ball. The only chance for IU is if they go crazy from deep - then maybe. PU by 9.

What "factors" are those? Lol didn't people say they'd blow the doors off of us last year when we went to Assembly Hall? Didn't I hear we'd be ran out of the gym? Nope. It didn't happen. Hasn't happened in the past 3 meetings. We slow them down & they aren't effective in a half court setting. We will win. Not big, but just like last year. Not much as changed.

When Indiana plays with zeisloft and Hartman it will be a matchup problem for us, our bigs will have to defend the perimeter and that will open up the inside. We absolutely have to control tempo in this game, that is how we negate the obscene shooting streaks that Indiana can go on. That being said, I've seen us get caught up in fast break basketball as well and it's been our downfall at times. If we stay composed and run them off the line, especially when Bryant is in I think we win.

That said, their defense has been very good lately, except for Bryant. We need Aj to come out in attack mode because he will be able to destroy Bryant one on one. When Aaron Jammons Hammons is good, the rest of the team is good - that's just science.

We'll out rebound them and win. Same as last year. Who's going to block out Swanigan? nobody. AJ? nobody. Haas? nobody. Their only strategy is chuck and pray.
I read where IU has won the rebounding battle in all of their conference games so far. Of course, they have not played the elite rebounding teams in the conference, MSU and Purdue.

I watched part of the IU-Michigan game (what an implosion by MI in the 1st half!).

IU is a better team than in recent years because they're playing defense & their offense is more multi-faceted and balanced. I think it'll be a tough W for us to get in Bloomington... It is possible, but we'll need to control tempo, play our best D & hold their % from 3 down to a reasonable level, and dominate down low on both ends.

Who's guarding Yogi? Johnny? That's the one matchup that worries me the most - we don't have a great fit to cover. Hopefully the AJ matchup for them is just as bad or worse.

I think there are a few, B-Westy.

Everyone keeps talking about how we beat them in Bloomington last year. Personally, I think that will add to the chip on their collective shoulder this time around. Maybe that's a "lol" sentiment, but I'm not counting on it. We have a size advantage, sure, but they have a tailor-made team to exploit our weaknesses.

I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong. There are certainly plenty of people on this board talking about this game as though it's a done deal for Purdue. I guess I'm not nearly as optimistic.

I think it's pretty simple. If AJ has a big game, and Haas keeps the post rolling....they don't have a chance. If we let IU control the game tempo and style? We're toast. I don't care how good they are playing, we are their kryptonite. They have no answer for our Front Court if we play to our strengths and run our agenda on the court. We must impose our will on them...and they will fold like a cheap lawn chair. It's not complex. The IU game isn't one that I'm worried about. Or, less worried than the other tough games.

I think our game poses a big mis-match for them, but with that said, I will say that IU is looking very good as of late, and can be a matchup problem for a lot of teams in the NCAA. Yogi is playing at MVP level, and the rest of their team is following suit. We have to make Yogi take tough contested jumpers, and control the paint. If we do that, we will dominate. IU needs to hit 10+ threes against us, shooting 40% or better from downtown, and we would have to turn the ball over (like we've been known to do) along with our bigs having a horrible night, for them to beat us. I don't see all that happening. I think Painter realizes the mismatch down low against them, gives it to our bigs and let them make the right decision.

Hopefully AJ plays the way he did against Nebraska for the rest of the year or at least against IU. He is a match up nightmare for them just like he was against Nebraska. Maybe that made him realize how good he actually is. We shall see come this weekend. BTFU

The past doesn't matter. Don't know if you've been watching but they've slowed themselves down. Their half court offense is much better, Yogi and Williams are more patient and less out of control.......making better decisions. They are actually playing defense. Painter knows how to defend previous year's teams but he will have to change some things against this team.
It's not the same team that lost to Duke earlier this year. The team dynamic has changed. They are dangerous, especially at home. If they get it rolling early and we hit one of our dead zones on offense, they could run us out of the gym.

Same concept. Don't collapse on the driver and stay with your man on defense. Don't foul Williams and let him throw it off the shot clock.
Attack the post on offense and rebound.
If Wisconsin and Minny can do it. So can we.

I hate IU!

Really? It's basketball man... not worthy of hate. It should be a good game, it will be interesting to see how IU handles your bigs, I'm thinking crowd the paint and make you beat us from deep.

Hopefully we don't try to drive and get your bigs in foul trouble like last year, that was a disaster... both times.

I'll bite. Who is IU going to "crowd the paint" with??? Especially after Bryant gets in foul trouble.

Go police your own board! Go tell your haters how to act. Go tell your biggest obsessed Purdue poster (and you know who he is) how to act. Until then STHU.

I think he just means that he wants the guards to dig down when the ball enters the post and make AJ and Isaac make the decision to try to score in traffic or kick it out to a perimeter player for a shot. Remember it's a road game so getting the opposing big in foul trouble won't be as easy as it would be in Mackey. I think we see a lot of Hartman and zeisloft in this game anyway.

I mean this seriously: IU having some success is a great thing for us longterm. My worst hoops fear is having Brad Stevens leading them. We need Crean to do well enough to stay there but not so well they're serious threats for National Championships.

The season they're having checks both those boxes.

Meanwhile, I'll take our team.

Stevens isn't going anywhere but up. He has the mind and temperament for the NBA, has Boston's rebuild ahead of schedule, and is already one of the more respected young coaches in the association.

I agree with some of what you have said but I have yet to see Williams playing patiently. He is always out of control. I thought he would be much more improved this year, given his athleticism the sky is the limit but man he just doesn't seem to understand the game very well.

Until about three weeks ago, I was pretty certain that Purdue would abuse IU regardless of where they play the game. If Purdue gets any kind of perimeter game and values the ball on offense it will make it hard on IU.

That said, without looking it up, it wouldn't shock me if Purdue is turning the ball over more than IU.

A few posters in this thread made mention of how out of control Troy is. There's no doubt about that. The thing that's changed in the last month is that when Troy does something stupid, he gets to watch Anunoby run past him onto the floor as he makes his way to the bench. I'm anxious to see how OG fares against somebody like Swanigan. I'm liking what I see so far but he's a freshman so it's guarded optimism.

Anyway, I'd wager that it's no more than a five point game either way right now. Should be fun. We've got a place in B'Town where my kids stay, a few of their Purdue friends are coming to stay so we're going to treat them to some great food, maybe a few craft brews and then hopefully be able to talk some trash at them when it's all over. We shall see.

Yep. It could be argued that no Blackmon, more OG/less Williams are the primary reasons the team is playing better. Also saw an article about how Crean isn't killing them as much in practice and they are spending more time watching film. For whatever reason, they are playing well.
If they follow the script others have used against us with the guards collapsing and stripping it could be a long day. They have the quickness to do it. Bryant is a factor as he's playing well but I'm hoping the freshman in him comes out against AJ. They could have an advantage in the Haas/Bielfeld matchup. Although Max is smaller he has lots of experience.

I'm assuming this was directed at me, if not, my apologies. If it was, relax francis, it's just basketball. If you have kids, go home and give them a hug and think about priorities... good grief.

As far as the obsessed PU poster, I honestly have no idea who you're talking about, and frankly don't care.
