But Jason King cost us this game with that bone headed personal foul penalty. No way around it. Purdue was in complete control about to go up two TDs. The defense was starting to dominate. That penalty gave momentum back to IU. Stupid play by a senior.

Based on who his coach was, I don't hold him accountable. Hard to have proper fundamentals when the HC didn't have them to begin with.
Agreed. And it wasn't the only play that kept us from winning. The five-yard penalty on the 1-yard line was just as costly.
It is what a Hazell coached team does though. They were getting cute and wanted to snicker. They wanted to feel powerful and tough. It was never about winning the game. They put other things in front of winning the game in order of importance. The results speak for themselves.

Easy...take the emotion out and you can see his point. Fundamentally, King's penalty, the penalty at the 1 yard line and Blough getting sacked late in the game were killer's that kept Purdue from winning. That is coaching as well. No excuses, Purdue needed a clean game to win and we blew it at critical moments.
He was also the one that missed the block on the last 4th down play where Blough had to throw it early and it was picked off.
I have to agree with the original poster. King'size penaltywas dumb, cost points and changed the game.

That was a critical play. After that, the offense floundered. Our O line couldn't protect, and we had no answer for the blitz. And it was a cheap shot that was inexcusable.
