ILLINOIS / MSU tomorrow

Illinois wins by 10 in the re-match. MSU is not that good. Terrible shooters. Illinois wins today if not for refs taking best player off the floor.
Same as it ever was on the road in the B1G…

After two- plus years of hearing opposing idiots scream how “Edey gets every call” you’ll have to excuse me for ignoring whining about officiating….

Please explain how this game differs from any home B1G ever for Izzy, Knight, etc….

That does not excuse Illinois’ failure to to execute and handle the moment.

Whining about officiating is a loser’s rationalization— a poised team with a confident coach wins today….
Imagine smith not being stopped by sparty and then being taken out of the game for some VERY, VERY questionable calls.

It’s almost as if each claim of bad officiating should be evaluated individually and not thrown under your blanket statement that it’s “whining.”

No one with an ounce of love for the game of basketball could watch KJ’s 5 alleged fouls and find more than 3 actual ones, period. And in a 2-point game, that’s insanely relevant to play almost the whole game without him.

Season low of 9 minutes, and it's also the only game in which he's fouled out. Had four fouls a couple of times.

Life on the road in the Big Ten some times. Purdue has been on both sides of it over the years - my biggest beef has been the inconsistency. That's putting aside that Zach Edey was one of the more difficult players to officiate, IMO.

That was the right call, and if you watch it again, the shot missed and was immediately rebounded by a MSU player, Fidler maybe. So it actually benefitted Illinois to force MSU to take the ball out of bounds.
I agree, however I wish they'd change the rules to allow shooting from behind the backboard. If your feet are in, you should be able to shoot from anywhere.

Officiating was ugly, no doubt. As an Illinois fan, how do you feel about Underwood pressing the refs to the point of a tech? He may have been correct about the bogus call, but those two FT's were the difference in the game.

the 2 games on TV today had excruciating long endings esp the Mich - NW game. The OT in the NW took 40 mins between going to the monitors, constant Time outs, coaches coming out to ? the refs, refs calling ticky tack fouls on Mich to keep NM in the game, was brutal

If this wasn’t the whine that EVERY team in this conference makes, EVERY year— when their favorite team loses a road game they were absolutely capable of winning regardless—

You might have a point.

Underwood lost his cool , and chose poorly down the stretch- boo friggin’ hoo.

The Featherheads weren’t poised enough to win today - deal with it, and ignore MSU’s whining when the Illini prevail in Champaign next month!

Look, I don’t really like Illinois, but as a fan of bball—much like the NU Michigan game, I want to see good basketball. The refs messed that up in both those games.

Watch all 5 fouls on KJ today below:

It’s fine if they called that all the same on EVERYONE but they did not.

The last one was smart play by MSU to force the foul. Player literally jumped backwards into KJ to initiate contact.

The other four were complete garbage calls. I dislike both teams, I'm anything but a Homer. Officiating needs a complete revamp as the last week there have been more bad calls than good in ALL the games

Yes I will 100% agree that last one was a great move by fiddler where KJ was playing way too aggressive with four fouls. The others were wild. I hope we don’t get that with smith up there

That crew must be watching too much of the NFL season.
