ILLINOIS / MSU tomorrow

So many game deciding bad calls that went MSU's way. Horrible officiating once again. They literally removed Illinois star player with 5 fouls where maybe 1 or tops 2 was valid.

The technical free throws at a critical moment and who ends the game on a "ball went over the backboard" call? The ball didn't touch the top of the backboard and the "path" was on the corner. Zebras just got handed a yellow envelope full of cash. That was embarrassing and I don't like either team.

High knees strikes again!

Think that Jeffery Anderson had a few bones riding on this game? Seemed like he was always the one rushing in with a late whistle after the play. Anyway, not impressed with MSU if this is how they win games.

That was the right call, and if you watch it again, the shot missed and was immediately rebounded by a MSU player, Fidler maybe. So it actually benefitted Illinois to force MSU to take the ball out of bounds.

That was some bull crap. Their pro frosh completely taken out of the game. No way Sparty wins with him playing normal minutes. Really wanted Ill to get the win. Sparty has quite a few games left against the top 6 but I think 5 of them are at home and one on the road. I just don't want to see a repeat of the core 4's senior year where sparty went like 18-2 and we went 17-3.

That was the correct call on shooting over the backboard. Doesn’t matter if it didn’t touch - it is against the rules in college. If it was the NBA, no biggie.

Refs are becoming a nuisance.....too big part of the game. In the NW game NW had the lead, and the refs take out Leach, NW leading scorer with a flagrant 2 ejection. All he did was a hard bump collision into a player on a pic.... basketball play, happens.

I imagine the game will turn on that.

Vlad Goldin flops/oversells any contact every game. He needs to be penalized/it’s ridiculous. He acts like one of his limbs has been cut off.

Unless they changed it in recent years, it's still the rule in the NBA too. I suppose I might be wrong. Would be the first time.

You can shoot over the corner of the backboard in the NBA, Chi-Boiler.

Illinois wins by 10 in the re-match. MSU is not that good. Terrible shooters. Illinois wins today if not for refs taking best player off the floor.

That is a moving screen foul on Goldin, nothing there even remotely looks like a flagrant one on NW. No way that was a flagrant 2. Time to fire some referees.
The inadvertent kick to the groin by leach was def not a flagrant 2. Goldin just got T’d up for an elbow to NUs face…wasn’t on purpose but by rule they had to call it. Brooks misses two of 4 FTs that could have tied it up

I occasionally wish that Coach Painter would get a little more animated with the referees but I would be embarrassed if my hall of fame coach thought he had to whine and cry to work the refs. Izzy is so over the top with his histrionics.
Yeah his antics are going to have a bad taste with most people on his coaching career. Not that he cares though.

3 of 6 actually in that stretch.

I was kind of on the fence, but I think I’m glad that MSU won, putting Illinois 2 games behind Purdue in the standings. Illinois simply looks like the more dangerous team to me.

They kinda choked that one away, missed quite a few shots and made some really silly plays.
To me, it looked like their game plan is to let Barnhizer and Martinelli free-lance. Occasionally they kick it out to a wide-open Berry who misses a 3. It's really bad basketball.
