Yeah, I think we got exposed tonight. Not saying we won’t play really well at times, but my dreams of building on last year’s accomplishments (Elite Eight, #3 seed, BTT championship, etc.) are totally dead.
Yes it is. The middle of the pack teams like OSU, UCLA, Maryland that are off to slow starts can win on any given night if you don't bring your A game.
Even the bad teams like IU, Iowa, NW, USC have talent to put it together at any given time. Let's hope they figure it out against MSU and not us, haha.
Protecting home court is what will likely win B1G. Makes Tuesday frustrating, and tonight even that more important.
That sums up an inexperienced, but extremely talented team in a nutshell.
Don't get too down Illini fans. If everyone is healthy I think you win @ Duke. Brad will have this team focused and the ACC is so soft this year Duke won't know what hit them. After that, the Illini will be everyone's Final 4 pick again. Maybe I'm crazy, but I could see it happening.
Win AT Duke? I dunno. Without ivisic we saw how Illinois is not as good. Duke has a BIG front court plus Flagg. KJ had 7 (!!!) turnovers today and if Illinois isn’t hitting the 3 ball, it’s tough for them to win.
Morez is going to be a beast. Carey Booth…man why did he shoot so many 3s?? There was a reason Maryland wasn’t guarding him…
Illinois can still put a run like that together but KJ has to play better for that run to happen. His stat line looks decent—poor shooting night and TONS of turnovers. And they’re very reliant on him and I guess even Ivisic. If those guys can stay healthy and out of foul trouble, Illinois should be able to make a run

Parity has arrived in the B10. On any given night 1-18 can beat you as Minnesota's win over Michigan should serve as an example. Iowa learned that last night as Minny beat them at home also. It's all fun and games until someone punches you in the face!
Maryland played pretty well at Purdue in December. Angel’s brother only had 5 and 7 against us vs the 27 and 17 he had last night. Overall, they took and made many more 3’s vs Purdue and get big points in the paint last night, and made just 3 3’s. TOS and Rebs differential about the same. Maybe they have decided to go inside first now, or maybe that was because last night Illinois center had a cough due to a cold. Nonetheless, getting Maryland in the B1G tournament would be a tough game.
Things happen all season long. Hell, we lost our starting center one game into the season. Whining about it does no good. They still play the games.
