They’re like Nebraska Fans but without the 90s

Reality finally appeared in that thread when they were guessing the spread and someone revealed +10.

I’m not sure I like us +10 w/o Bell, but we should still beat this team.

They really do feel like “just a matter of getting these recruits in here and we should own Purdue” .. and that’s fine until it’s 25 years later and you’re still thinking that and the last 25 years would tell my idiot brother the opposite is true

As bad as we have been, at least we aren’t Illinois. Even Hazell beat Illinois.

But we do need to beat these guys this year. (Possible bowl, recruiting, it will make me feel better, 😅)

Geographically, we have a much better recruiting footprint than they do. Closer to Chicago, Indy, Cincinnati, Columbus, Louisville, Detroit, etc.

If every stud player in Illinois grew up dreaming of donning the Orange and Blue, they’d be in good shape… but they don’t.

Dude their fan base has always been the worst relative to not doing anything. When brees roped them his senior year I was walking out with about 4000 Purdue fans and two Illinois fans yelled “you guys suck! Wooooooo!” And ran out like Dan Akroyd in trading places when he’s dressed like Santa lol. Everyone looked at each other confused for like 5 seconds

if they lose everyone on there will act like they did nothing right and a JV high school team could beat them (it’s NEVER because the opponent is good at anything). If they win, they’ll be like “9-3 baby!” Lol

I feel like they make the same mistake hazell did but in perpetuity.. they are not a power program but they have decades of vanilla schemes

By the way I was expecting a few of them to be like “4 point favorites” lol

I could see them being decent in a few years. Decent recruiting ground and I do think Bielema can be a productive coach in the BIG again. Boring scheme but if they can muster a good defense and play the style of ball he did at Wisconsin they could easy slide into the 5-6-7 win range most years

Yeah 5-7. I think we are in a decent place though and I barely EXPECT to beat anyone. Purdue needs to play well to win always

Careful because wasn’t Illinois the only team Haz could beat? Tic

The Illinois AD hired Lovie Smith. Illini fans were crowing about that hire just 'cause Lovie had an NFL pedigree...a bad pedigree at that. I was on their board at the time, saying that he would be fired in a few years.

It's tiresome being right so often.

He brought the Tampa 2, but he forgot to bring Sapp, Urlacher or Lynch.

Except they let him hang around for at least 1 season too many.
