Illini

Welp....I was wr...wro wronn....not exactly right about the Illini.....wow. Unraveling starting in the third Q with the punter almost completely whiffing on a punt and kicking it into his own lineman.

Illinois could cash in on this 9th life......inside the 30 with 30 seconds....wow.....some great catches this last drive.

MSU pulled a Brohm - passed on 3rd and goal instead of just running out the clock.
Escaped despite that bad decision.

did not get that call at all. I know they don't have confidence in their FG kickers but really

Illinois is crapping the bed. We could have been in the cat bird seat going in to next week. Shame on us.
It's going to be embarrassing getting beat at Illinois when they're 7-2 and can't come close to filling their stadium. Meanwhile we fill ours and looks like crap.

That's what I'm thinking. The question I have is: can Purdue get refocused after two lackluster efforts?
After two bad losses sandwiched with a bye week this shows me (besides bad coaching) there is a lack of senior leadership on this team. AOC, Durham, where are you? No refocusing going on here. I don't like to be a negative nancy cause I have tickets to the game next week.

Durham doesn't have the smarts to be a leader...

Win the last 3 , which feels like pipedream right now, but can be done , and we will probably be in BT championship. I don't believe Iowa or Wiscy can win out, one of them will lose to the other and then need to root for Minny and or Neb.

If Purdue could do that, Minnesota WOULD have a lot to say about the West winner. The Boilers haven't looked too good in over a month if you throw in the bye and the shaky defense against Nebraska. However.......the opportunity is there.....can they pull a rabbit out of the hat?

Iowa:
Wisconsin
@ Minnesota
Nebraska

Minnesota:
Northwestern

Illinois:
Purdue

If Purdue wins Saturday, the team in Indy will be the Iowa -Wisconsin winner. Same as it ever was….

Order has been restored somewhat. Purdue has beaten injured and beat up Iowa secondary's in previous seasons. Purdue could have beaten a very, very young Iowa offensive line this season. That they didn't see the obvious yesterday is baffling and speaks to coaching.

Iowa probably should have beaten Illinois, but see offensive line comment above.

Illinois and Wisconsin are best positioned to win the West this season. Iowa's offensive line probably won't get to where it needs to be as evidenced by yesterday's performance. It was pretty clear to see for those that understand what they are watching.

This season you have Wisconsin, Illinois. Followed in some order by Minnesota and possibly Iowa. Purdue, Nebraska and Northwestern are the remaining teams falling historically where they usually end up excepting Northwestern which has fallen on hard times, but is a better football team than most realize.

Next season based on youth, teams that actually develop players, understand the importance of offensive line play, defense and special teams, order will be restored to what we are used to seeing, which isn't that different then the above, excepting the shuffling of a couple of teams.

Yesterday in the stands it was understandable listening to the fans talking about how Iowa was in a running formation on their first touchdown. They weren't, and it was obvious. What was shocking is that is wasn't obvious to Purdue's defense. Teams just can't consistently win in the B1G, or any D1 level, hoping to catch teams with three deeps starting in the secondary, and not recognizing obvious plays. I guess it works from time to time, but it obviously doesn't work enough to win a B1G division. I mean even last year's win against Iowa was essentially fool's gold, and again, very easy to see for anyone that understands what they're watching.

Using Iowa as an example, since I broke yesterday's game down in the stands, Iowa just hasn't been a very good teams since 2009. They caught some favorable schedules, and did just enough at o line, defense and special teams to take advantage of common sense. Purdue has never been a good team in my recent memory.

It is what it is. You are what your record says you are.
