Vincent Edwards would not score....
Caleb Swanigan would foul out....
Melo Trimble would shoot 14-15 from the FT line....
Purdue would start 0-7 from deep and finish under 40% from the field.....
Boilers would have double-digit turnovers and only 10 assists.....
Terps would have 10 blocked shots.....
Isaac Haas would get a technical foul (and be announced at least once as Isaac Hayes).....
No way I'd think Purdue could/would win. Obviously, you can sometimes cherry-pick particular stats, but this was a welcomed win and a good sign of mental toughness for the Boilers to pull that game out down the stretch. Plenty of adversity, some brought by the Terps and some self-inflicted.....trailed most of the game and by double-digits in the second half. Good teams find ways to win these type of games.....so job well done for the team and CMP & staff. Ended an 8-game slide against ranked teams on the road.
Also great to see Carsen Edwards from Atascocita, Texas get a chance down the stretch....no better way to get baptized for clutch moments than hitting two FT's down one with just a couple of seconds left. His early play in the game also kept Purdue within striking distance. More C-Boogie moments to come I believe.
Will this propel the Boilers to greater heights? Remains to be seen....we'll find out in a hurry it appears because the next stop is Assembly Hall in Bloomington on TH with another national audience. This has to give the team some confidence and allow the chemistry to be even stronger/better.....we can hope anyway.....I'll take off the Black & Gold shades now....
