...has given us something to be excited about, look forward to, and talk about! I for one don't feel as demoralized RE our struggles on the field. I can look forward to the future. And this isn't a "was the timing right or wrong" debate thread, just expressing my feelings and observations.

We are also somewhat in the national spotlight RE being on the look for a new coach. Our possibilities have been debated extensively online, ESPN, on SiriusXM College Sports station daily (which I listen to religiously), and on BTN everyday. We are in the minds of potential coaches, and our new AD, new commitment to football, new facility upgrades, are all front and center in the conversations. Those things may have been lost or overshadowed had this come at the end of the year, with all the other potential openings. People know we are serious, and have a new/serious commitment.

For those reasons alone I feel it was the right decision, and I am grateful. We are out in front of, and on top of, the coaching carousel conversation. Hopefully it bears fruit in the form of a great new coach, but I'll leave that up to my higher power.

Well stated and on-point. It's shocking that some on this site thought that firing DH2 now wouldn't make an ounce of difference...o_O

Now that the dust has somewhat settled it appears to have been the right call (timing wise). The two most convincing things to me are (1) the comments from the recruits and (2) the comments from Parker. It sounds like if nothing else there should be more energy and fun around the program for the next couple months than had DH2 stayed on.

We will see how commited the Administration is to winning as we go forward. The lights were dictated by the BTN TV Contract and the performance center is 12-15 years late. We still have the south end project to finish and we will see how much we allow for assistant salaries and recruiting expenses. Then there is the academics to address...these are football players and not Rhodes' Scholar candidates. We can get by without general studies or black history majors like UNC. I think there may still be something like recreation or elementary education or just something? Anything that doesnt require calculus!!!!!!!! Unlike OSU, I do believe the players should attend class on a regular basis...and no we do not need a tattoo parlor in the Union Building.

As for the South end zone, we really dont need spectator seats in there and I actually like the current concept. For the next couple of years, we need to sell at least beer and wine somewhere in that stadium. We are going to see a lot of not so good football the next two years anyway and we need some anesthesia to ease the pain. Unlike Colletto, Hazell didnt leave the Big Uglies for the next coach...although I do really, really like Blough.

I for one was exstatic when the canned Hazell! The man was drowning he was so in over his head!

It hasn't except to appease the butthurt among us which is exactly what I've said all along. All this "talk" that you are so excited about is meaningless.

Clearly you've never been a results-oriented person responsible for brand management. Your idiocy becomes more clear with each post.

It also spurred a jpc mass email asking/reminding for donations... only a 2 day delay, good work ms.cross!

And Good luck mb2
I got called Sunday night!

I was very indifferent on whether we should wait on firing him or not. I give MB2 credit for moving quickly and decisively though. But this better translate into getting our first choice. If we still end up with plan C or D, I don't think firing now did anything good, unless the team really responds positively to the change.

Clearly you know nothing about me.....which appears to be the same amount you know about the things discussed on this board.

Have a good night!

I wouldn't hold my breath. Move simply appeased the butthurt among us like EastCoastBoiler who was whining like a little girl about it all season long. There will be no lasting tangible benefits from doing this now as opposed to a month from now.

Swing and a miss. I'll take the stats, you can have the Morgan Burke status quo, loser.

Yea that's why I was calling Hazell out in year 1. I'm way ahead of you on this so if you need to find a loser, you need to find a mirror.

Well, it hasn't made a difference... Yet. We'll see by January if the 1) the team improves and competes regularly, maybe even win some more games, and 2) the Bobinski utilizes the extra time to make a great hire. We'll see.

Hey now, don't drag me into this thing between you and ECB.

But... There was talk about Hazell getting fired midseason and, well, he did. Also, I'm willing to entertain "talk", because its all weve got right now. And it's more funner.

If you didn't want dh2 in year 1, what made you change your mind and give him a chance/full year this season?

He's full of shit. He was roundly beaten over the head by several posters (myself included) and has been reduced to screeching as a result...much like a mental-ward patient.

Just don't believe in firing a coach while the season is still in progress barring some sort of scandal. Serves no purpose other than appeasing butthurt whiners like ECB. If you're going to let him start the season, be willing to allow them to finish the season OR don't let them start the season at all. I don't believe in having a coach you aren't fully behind. If you aren't, move on before the season starts.

It's funny because all I've tried to do in my responses to you is mimic the minimal level of logic that you present. Glad you recognized that you make no sense.

The only way you would hear if our plan A gets hired would be if Plan A was Les Miles or Art Briles or a current NFL guy that would leave where he is at currently. Other than that, we will probably not know for a number of years. If MBob hires in the next 2-4 weeks, then we all know he probably got his first candidate hired.

I thought it was established before that
a primary reason he started was due to the timing of our AD transition

Exactly. Even if they don't get their top options they will try to present it like they did whenever they do hire whoever.

It can't be fun to be on a team lead by a "dead man walking". They knew he was gone at the end of the season. He knew he was gone at the end of the season. When the season shows no signs of going well, there is little reason to wait. I'm actually impressed Bobinski took the initiative. I'm fine with being conservative and waiting, but sometimes a decisive action is necessary. This is one of those times. Bonus points for not getting lost in the sea of coaching changes at the end of the season.

Except we knew Hazell was our plan C the day he was hired...
