If (as it has been reported on the UofL sites) Brohm agreed long ago to leave Purdue

I think it shows how much class he has that he and his staff have been out recruiting today on Purdue's dime. Again, if true that he is leaving...then he should've had the decency to leave without recruiting players to another school while Purdue was paying for his travel. If the UofL sites end up being accurate all along, then I guess he'll fit right in with the UofL coaching tree. Classless.

Dang, dude... so many indicators pointing toward him being "all in" at Purdue, and you post this?

I hope I misunderstood the point...

If true the NCAA should just investigate them again for another infraction, maybe the FB team will get the death penalty as well.

I don't believe that Brohm is like that, if so, good riddance. There are good coaches out there all the time. Most of the best coaches have an Alabama connection if you look closely. 3 of the top 4 teams.

Not understanding your thoughts? The coaches are out talking to all the Purdue recruits for 2019. Early signing period is in December.

I am not defending the original post but perhaps what was meant is that IF Brohm did agree in principle to a deal with another school...isn't the proper thing to do, to step down?

I frankly think he has a point and that coaches don't have integrity.

I hope this is not the case with Brohm as he always seemed different.

Another fantastic take - lol.

“Death penalty” - lol.

Hey hunk...

You and I have been on this board for a long time. And I completely understand your frustration, as I think all of us are getting really tired of all the UL drive by's spouting their delusional wet dreams ad nauseam - especially since there has been absolutely nothing, other than their arm waving rationalizations that have gripped their circle jerk of a board on 247, that substantiates their claims.

It seems like every day, someone else over there has some "super reliable", and "close contact" who knows what is "really" going on behind the scenes that is the source for all these claims that continue to flame out. And yet, over at the Purdue Athletic Department offices, everything continues on, business as usual.

Yet I agree with you that if any coach were to use Purdue's dime to recruit for their new school, it would be a major violation of trust and indicative of someone with zero character. Zero.

But that is clearly not Jeff Brohm, IMHO. I cannot fathom why he would voluntarily leave a good job at WKU and dive headlong into resurrecting our program, only to screw us over and blow up the best recruiting class we have possibly ever had - just to scurry home at the first dog whistle of panic from his alma mater, who pretty much screwed him over the last time he was a coach there.

If such a scenario does occur, then I think we all would have been guilty of falling for what would amount to a major misjudgment in our coach's character.

But I honestly do not believe that is the case - or will ever be the case - with Jeff Brohm. Everything Jeff has said and done in his brief tenure with Purdue indicates he is a man of honesty and integrity.

And as much pain as it would cause for us to lose him, I think we owe him the faith he deserves until the situation indicates otherwise.

JMHOAU

According to Matt Jones of KY Sports Radio, AD Tyra has reached out to Brohm with initial offer that Brohm/and or his reps felt was "surprisingly low"

If Brohm would leave many Purdue fans will be hurt and they will probably lash out and attack him from every direction. The OP is a preemptive preview of those, which is a little inappropriate to be doing now IMO?

I find most sweeping impunities of any group to be wrong...There are lots of coaches out there with integrity...But I happen to believe Purdue can pat itself on the back that our current coaches across our Athletic Department and various sports are absolutely exceptional in the integrity category. CJB is certainly one of those in my opinion.

I agree - completely uncalled for.

Jones is a low budget Dakich. But even if he is right, all that it means is that JB is entertaining UofL’s offer.

If he is right it means he thought U of L’s offer sucked. Maybe U of L ups it, but it sure seems like Tyra is either just making a lipservice offer or U of L is trying to save face after Brohm told them no by making him seem greedy.

I guess people have a different idea of what integrity is...I believe Brohm had integrity, I stated that.

The point is when a person says, I will be here...i like it here...i am not leaving and then leaves 2 days later, that is not integrity and too many coaches do this.

Also, my example was specific...i said that if a coach had already made a deal in principle, he ought to step down immediately. Many will await a buyout reduction, etc... that is an issue.

I will state again that I love Brohm and hope he stays. He is a phenomenal coach and person.

Okay, I'll grant you that. But everything after "IF"... was waaaaaaaaaaaay off base.
I haven't seen anything about Brohm agreeing to leave Purdue a long time ago. What sites are you referring to? Was this information given by administrators, or just regular folks?

His assistants were giving out scholarship offers today. That’s doesn’t sound like someone who’s “had an offer for awhile”.

Matt Jones is reporting week old news which is based on UofL’s initial offer that was made via Brohm’s agent. While Brohm to UofL was always a foregone conclusion, the dollar figure was not.

Purdue fans can take solace in the fact that Purdue’s staunch desire to keep Brohm will ultimately cost UofL another $0.5 - $1 million/year, which will certainly hasten the impending bankruptcy of our destitute University. (lol)

Does moral bankruptcy count? You have that in spades.

So you trust his reporting except for the part where he said it’s “far from a done deal”. Interesting.

Someone please rid this board of Louisville idiots with delusions of grandeur. Every idiot down there
thinks they have the inside scoop.

Trust whose reporting? Matt Jones must have just caught wind of our initial “low” offer which was reported by our insiders a week ago. Things have progressed well beyond that point.
