I know that is not a popular thought, but I believe one of two things will happen here, 1) He will give up and leave or 2) He will realize that to make it to the pros, he will have to be more like what Painter is asking him than what he has been.
He does not have to be too smart to realize that his game is not working in college. How many turn overs while trying to plow through the basket does he have to see during film session to understand that? If he chooses to remain, the only question is can he handle it mentally, because he has the strength, skills, etc. to do it. He could be a great defender and a good PG. If he developed a 3 pt shot, he could be very, very good.
Now, if he thought he was "Tiny" Archibald already and Purdue just does not let him do his thing, then forget it and he can transfer to a low D1 school to show everybody what he can (or cannot) do.
