I still believe a lot of this goes back to Morgan Burke

Tired argument...and I am sure many of you will disagree. I am not saying this is all on him...because paid coaches need to be doing their job. But he certainly has his hands dirty in the current state of football/basketball.

Morgan went cheap when football was rolling...refused to pay assistants equitable pay, hired a cheap replacement in Danny Hope...and thus the football program is trying to dig itself out of historic all time lows. His inability to read the tea leaves and realize that he had the program rolling and instead of reinvesting in necessary resources, he didn't fight the BOT and thus we are left with last place finishes, empty stadiums and an apathetic/skeptical fan base at best. How many good assistants did Tiller lose because we refused to pay them? Where would Purdue football be right now if we would have reinvested?

With hoops...if you believe what was being reported in that assistants were underpaid, recruiting resources were a joke, and it took a mexican standoff with Painter to get anyone to agree to fund the program the right way. This doesn't excuse Painter for his lack of recruiting...there is clearly something missing in his pitch. I have been a very loyal supporter, but I have to admit my confidence is rocked. Most notably, i think we run a boring scheme that kids don't want to play. But you do have to wonder if things would have been different when the program was rolling with Hummell & Co...and could the proper resources have paid bigger dividends?

Morgan and the rest of the Purdue administration sounds like dinosaurs when they talk...they don't get it, don't care to get it, and probably will never get it. They would rather feed us BS about running the program the right way...suggesting that everyone winning is cutting corners. More than anyone, they should be salespeople trying to elicit donations, but they would rather stick their nose in the air and pontificate about a self-sustaining athletic department. The reality is everyone knows it, opposing coaches and recruiting coordinators know this, and you can poke holes in Purdue's dedication to winning quite easily.

Boiler through and through...reality is a bitch. As Bill Parcells once said...you are what you are.
