When Etling first trotted out against NIU. There was a wave of cheers from the crowd, and I remember having pity for Rob Henry seeing him on the sidelines with his hands on his hips looking dejected. I told my wife, "that's Danny Etling, we're seeing the future of Purdue football". Then Danny threw that sick TD to Posey in the north end zone. He was out of bounds, btw, I think the ref felt bad for us.
Now, I look back and can't help but think it was too soon, and they shouldn't have burned his redshirt year. Oh well. I'll be keeping an eye on Danny next year, wherever he plays.
