As we wrap the month of July, I am curious what the Purdue football players are doing right now?

Have they returned to campus for two-a-days? Are they allowed to practice beyond strength and conditioning?

They take summer school and work out/run 7 on 7
My buddies that played FB would always try to knock out a couple of their tougher courses in Maymester and summer school to get to 9-12 hours load a semester.
In their spare time, they worked out and prepped for the start of practice.

There basically is no such thing as summer break for Division 1 football players. Ninety five to a hundred percent are in summer school. They have morning and afternoon sessions of weight lifting and conditioning and agility training supervised by the strength staff. Regular staff not permitted. They will also have player run practices and 7 on7. Position leaders will work with freshmen on technique and playbook. They do squeeze in some academics I’d my understanding.

Thanks for sharing. Im guessing this didn't happen last year with the pandemic at least not at Purdue, which I think really put us behind the eight ball.

They actually did do the exact same thing last summer during covid. Just lifted and ran in smaller groups , did7/7 and attended on line class. June was “ optional” and July was “mandatory.” “Optional” meant “ your butt better be here!”

Sounds like you're better informed than I. Thought I read where a lot of guys went home. Not sure if that was the spring or summer though.

I'd also be curious to know whether any of the summer expectations are different from the previous administration.

well, there’s no daily readings from the a players manual nor stinger sharpening

For Purdue, Maymester is optional......Summer, Fall, Spring Semesters are mandatory. Freshmen report Weekend before Summer semester begins.
