Folks I have stuck with Purdue through very difficult times. Through the absolutely putrid football performances, especially as of late. Purdue fans have had it rough lately. And I want this message to be felt hard. I am personally asking for Purdue and Painter to make it a mission to beat Pitt. I want that game. And I want that game bad. I want it now. December 1.
I want every player to take that game personally. I am asking you all to take that game personally. I am asking Hammons to take it personally as an alumni. I am asking Swanigan to put on the most determined performance of his young life that night. I want this game. Physical, determined, fierce attitude and character. I want an ACC slap on that night. Put it on the court that night. Do not fail me or the rest of Purdue nation that night. We need a big win. We need it now. And after tomorrow's football game, we'll probably need it even more.
A) Pitt is ACC. Need I remind of the ACC connection....North Carolina is ranked #1 and will reap the benefits of that even though they cheated the NCAA in the absolute WORST NCAA violation of all time, i.e.. handing out fake degrees, which is an insult to collegiate athletics. I take ACC games personally for this reason among others. It is one thing to hand a player money. It is another to hand out fake degrees. No other team except a hand's full would ever be given such treatment under those conditions, especially in the Big Ten.
B) I am putting money down on this game. Not because I want to win the money, but because I have some loud mouthed friends who have ragged on Purdue and I have had to defend my swag and my team for years. I am sick and tired of that. I said put your money where your mouth is, they did. It is on.
C) Back in the ACC challenge when it first began, ESPN ragged on the Big Ten in the most sickening, unfair, vitriolic, astounding, and quite frankly disgusting way for nearly a decade when that began. It was unreal the kind of disrespect Big Ten fans had to endure during those times. Every big ten athlete should take that personally. The Big Ten has gotten the message winning the last many in a row. This Purdue game is extremely important in that effort to continue this. And it needs to continue.
Lastly, the ACC must be challenged. How do you hand out fake degrees for as long as Michael Jordan to athletes, and then teams like Purdue take their best player and bench him for the rest of the year for not being academically eligible per NCAA rules (referring to 2004)? Remember that year Purdue beat #2 Duke in the Great Alaska Shootout with Kenneth Lowe just beating Duke around like a wet rag, slapping them like a fool face on national TV. And prior to that game I had to hear ESPN and Dick Vital scathe Purdue for daring to play the game against the anointed Duke darlings. I talk to many of my alumni friends around the country who share the heated anger over that. Right after that Duke win our big man got declared ineligible. Season was tanked. We played by the rules....probably more teams at that UNC level that we don't know of didn't. DECK1 (Dec 1st) be there! I will. I will be there in person. Now give me this win!!
