I gave credit after ND, I must criticize after Minnesota. NOT Elite.

Elite teams defend their home court against unranked opponents. Find a way to beat unranked opponents with two starters on the bench fouled out. Is Minnesota good? Sure. Seemingly anyway. Are they a Conference title team? Absolutely not.

I now must revert back to my comments after losing to Louisville. Ceiling 4th-6th in the Conference and I can't see any tournament run. It is one star and a group of stiffs that can look good, but will prove to have no consistency. Haas has developed into having no role on the team. Cline cannot be on the floor for big minutes as he couldn't guard me. Vince Edwards plays like a guy whose girlfriend just dumped him. If Mathias can't shoot 3s then I am not sure what he gives us. Freshman Edwards, I mean sub 20% shooting? Come on, son. Tentative shooters. Poor defense. Wasting NBA talent

And you're back proving once again why you shouldn't be making any posts about basketball since you're so friggin clueless. Seriously, go play Mario brothers or something more your speed because cirtiquing basketball is way over your head.

People see what they want. This team isn't terrible like the fire Painter group spouts and it's not a juggernaut like the reactionary folks wanted to look past all our problems that weren't exploited by Norfolk State.

Still pretty good but most conference games are going to be a battle and we will dropbsome that we could've won.

What is not accurate? Haas couldn't be on the court. Carsen Edwards shot 21%. Dakota Mathias had 4 points. Vince Edwards missed 3 layups in the second half and shot two ill-advised threes. The guards as a group allowed a guy to put up 31, almost 3 times his season average. That is bad.

I say "Fire Painter" as a joke and I know we will lose some. I am just riding high off of emotions.

Exactly right.

If I have a guard that averages 15 a game, I know I have a shot against our squad. Been lit up a lot.

I think you make a point of tormenting good Purdue fans after a loss. We never hear from you after a win. Too bad. Your are falling into the troll/asshat range on this board. Try being more positive.

Haas is a hot mess. Has done nothing from last year to this to improve his game. He needs to step up his game if he wants to play. Was getting pushed around under the basket. At 7'2 he should be dominating the board when he's in. Playing very soft right now.

I'm pretty positive on the football board. Swanigan has been putting up great performances. I just enjoy $hitposting too much.

Swan aside the rest of this team played like a joke. They were manhandled out there. We were damn lucky to make it to overtime and then couldn't even make a goddam layup. I can say I am not happy after have watched that game. Purdue was manhandled for all intensive purposes physically and that is with a 7 footer. If Purdue isn't damn careful they could find themselves 1-3 in a hurry. Dropping 3 in a row going into Iowa. Then if they manage to even win that game we might be splitting the next two home games. A reasonable estimation of their record could be 4-6 through Nebraska. Northwestern at home won't be easy with road games to IU and Maryland following that we could easily by 5-8 through that stretch. It's all in the mentality of the team. Minnesota's whole team came in knowing they were going to win and they did. That's the attitude it takes to win and Purdue clearly doesn't have it. They can't bring it every game and certainly not on the road.

I'm just one of those that I am quiet when I am happy and when I get angry I talk a lot. Pretty disappointed tonight, but I'll get over it.

This team is just like so many others before it...to the point of having many of the very same issues and problems.

It is only a good team, never mind pretty good one, when it is hitting open jump shots...and they have no identity at all...they have one guy that busts his a$$ and plays to his ability more often than not, but that is it...and his talent is being wasted.

RegionWarrior was pretty spot on in his assessment...so many things that contributed to the outcome today, and so many are the exact same issues that Painter and his team's have had for much of his time there, and all of it on teams that did not have Hummel on it.

Good you are just mind numbingly blind. I mean seriously you are just brain dead.

Confirmation bias. Only shows up for losses.

Defense should've been a concern to any fan with an ounce of basketball knowledge coming into the season. Not a surprising deficiency.
Only surprising in that it was a known deficiency and went unaddressed regardless yet again...well, I guess that does not come as much of a surprise after all either.

Aren't many perfect teams out there.

Who said we were Elite? Must have missed that one. Was that your expectation?
As for the rest of your post......

Will never have to worry about that problem at Purdue certainly.

The problem to me is that the imperfections are many of the same that have existed and persisted.

Really? I always felt our problems with the Baby Boilers was rebounding. Then we morphed into a team that couldn't shoot Ver well. Now we do those things but have some issues defensively against good players.

oh my god. Do you pay attention to what is written about the team, what Painter or the coaches or the players say? They even have videos if that's your style. Unaddressed? Really? This team has been playing better defense as the year went along, TEAM defense has been the emphasis all year since you haven't been paying attention.
One loss and now we play no defense lol. We got beat by a more athletic team that was able to break us down and make shots. It's not like we have 5 athletes like Carsen we can put on the floor. Saying it has gone unaddressed is just plain uniformed and lazy.

Lost in the exact same fashion to the exact same type of team as they always lose to...a more athletic team that can(and always does) break them down and hit open (and often easy) shots. This team is no better defensively than others before it...it actually is worse without someone to defend the rim and erase the mistakes that are made like Hammons provided.

Great point about a rim protector...miss Hammons a bunch. Haas could not block a shot or alter it if his life depended on it. And he is 7'2"...

Haas is a lost cause at the moment unfortunately...has been that way for a couple of weeks now...he provides nothing at the defensive end and is a huge liability at that end, and he is struggling at the other end as well aside from knocking down Free Throws...he has become a problem in terms of trying to find something that he can do to help, and he certainly lacks confidence as a result...that said, it is as simple as the fact that Purdue is better when he is not on the floor way more often than not...especially if/when the opponent has any size with athleticism or guards that get to the rim.

elite like IU or Maryland losing to a 6-6 (non-conf) Nebraska?
or UCLA losing to Oregon?

come on..... poop happens.
or should Purdue just notify the BIG and the NCAA that they give up and surrender this season?

Mason (a 3 star recruit, i think - that most of you whiners wouldn't have) had the game of his life..... Lynch was a monster.... tonight.

but some of you want to just throw your hands up in the air and quit.

too bad Kansas and N.C. didn't do that after they lost to IU, huh?

get a grip dudes.....

sometimes purdue is the buzzsaw, sometimes they will be a chunk of wood, and neither night "proves" what type if a team they are or will be.

i guess age brings these kind of games into perspective to those of us willing to use our grey matter and not our immature emotions.....

Wow, we overreact after a lose, in a way, just like we overreact after a huge win. Region guy, what you said was true for tonights game. But it was just one game.

What is an elite team anyway, basically a team loaded with 5 and 4 star recruits? Really, that's pretty much the only way to be elite nowadays. In other words, be Duke, who just got handled by Virginia Tech. All teams have stinker games. Purdue is not as bad as it looked tonight or as good as it looked against Iowa.

This team can still win the B1G, because it's just not that tough this year. That said Swanigan, our only 5 star, showed up today and almost everyone else was just ok or played poorly. CE is talented but cannot be relied upon many nights (38% shooter on the year% from 3) and our other guards are not overly athletic or talented.

Still, season is early and we can bounce back. It's pretty clear that we don't have a consistent stud next to Swanigan, so it will make it hard to do much come March.

For a guy with just 8 posts, you display remarkably good insight. Welcome to the board, and yes, there are a few who badly overreact when we lose, and are silent when we win. Most lack every the most fundamental understanding of college sports.

Also...not top 25!

They are top 25. Could still be top 2-3 B1G as it is wildly inconsistent (see IU and MSU). Definitely not elite, but a top 3 B1G finish and top 3-4 seed are still well within reach if CMP has any coaching ability as the B1G is way down this year.

Hass got whimper pushed out there. Minnesota tossed him around like it was fun time. I mean over 7 feet and gets shoved around? What is with that? Why do Painter's teams play so soft all the time? Do they think they have all day out there? Minny made Purdue their punk ninny. They played every second while Purdue went out there and licked. Swan aside he was the whole team out there. The rest looked like skinny nerds playing D2 ball. Tonight was a total blowout in my mind. It's a bad loss because Minny ain't played nobody they just showed up and pushed Purdue around at home like they owned the place.

thanks for the kind words mathboy....

i have been lurking for years, but i have always stayed out of these "fights" because they just aren't worth it....

but to not accept that once in a while, Purdue is going to lose a game, is just unbelievable.
Minny played and had a great game plan.

i guess "old age" teaches some that you can't/won't win every game that you "should".

......someday, these youngsters will realize that.

as for fire Painter? get bent.... he made it to the S16 with Hummel OUT!

......clappy had the #1 team in the nation and did no better...... let THAT sink in you whiney-ass b!tches
