Hypothetically let's say that the rules were changed and every time you banked a shot in you got an extra point....
So kids at a young age started developing a bank shot and after 20 or so years the bank shot was THE way to shoot a basket and any shot that swished through without banking was an aberration.
The question is.... Statistically would shooters have a higher or lower FG% than they do now?
For this argument eliminate the extreme corner shot from the equation.
I couldn't watch the game today but I talked to my dad afterward... He claims that the reason kids can't hit the 8-10 ft jump shot from just outside the paint is because using the backboard is a lost art.
He played HS and College ball in the 50's and said a bank shot was more forgiving than a swish....of course this is before the 3 pt line which may be a factor
