Not wishing the kid bad luck, but he was a 4-star QB heavily recruited by Purdue. He picked Clemson, ended up as backup to Trevor Lawrence, then transferred to Northwestern. He started for the Wildcats at the beginning of the season but is now the # 3 qb on their roster. Looks like we were lucky he didn't choose Purdue.

also saw last week that 4 star Chubba Purdy portaled from Fla. St. we had alot of interest in him a couple years back.

I think Brohm is probably a better QB coach, so who knows what might have happened if Johnson had chosen Purdue? But based on what we have now I'm glad we didn't spend that extra scholarship on him.

Once a player flops out of their first school, their ranking becomes irrelevant in my eyes. Many times, there is a reason it didn't work out at the first place that is going to follow them everywhere they go.
When a guy is recruited out of high school, you only see their "face up card". Once a recruit competes at the college level their "hole card" is revealed.

Johnson was a King on a 3.

Hearing the Reverend Coach LEO is saying a special prayer in hopes the transfer portal can be applied to the last three weeks of the season so they can land Johnson. It would mean they could screw up four 4 star quarterbacks, which would be a record.

I used to think that way, but there has been a trend of transferring QBs that have done well.

Baker
Hurts
Kyler
Justin Fields
Cam Newton $$$$$$$$$$$
Joe Burrow

etc

You're calling those guys flops at their first school? Lol

Baker = B12 offensive freshman of the year
Hurts = SEC freshman of the year
Newton = Soph starter at UF, derailed due to injury

Kyler, Fields, and Burrow were stuck behind big time QB's but showed promise, which is why they got calls from big boy programs. A Hesiman sitting behind a Hesiman is a pretty unique situation.

Baker got beat out by Mahommes
Hurts got beat out by Tua
Newton got arrested and tossed.

Hunter Johnson didnt flop at Clemson. He got beat out by Sunshine.

Where's the Northwestern douchebag fan that made sure to come over here to taunt us and tell us how great he was going to be for them? Karma, something, something ...

It takes a special kind of human being to come talk trash and puff out their chest when they historically have one of the worst college football programs ever. I wonder if there are any Kansas fans who wander from board to board talking trash.

Wasn’t he “stuck” behind Peters ?
"stuck"

They were to compete on the same roster, for the same position.

On one hand, that is quite a statement about the talent that had accumulated at Avon HS. It's yet another statement about not competing.

He now has a history (reputation?) of moving from school to school, apparently in an effort to avoid competing for his job/position. Now, it appears he does not have a job/position.

Life only gets more real after school......

Ok make me:

1. Michigan fans because at one time they were something but I’m old and it was before my time.
2. Nebraska fans that are still beating their chests over something that happened when I was a young man
3. OSU yeah we know you own our league
4. Iowa fans that think somehow they’re going to finish above Wisconsin even though they lost to them.
5. Minnesota. Row the Boat even though they’ve won the last two games by blown calls.
6. I’m running out of steam, howzabout Indinia. They somehow think they’re a power when they are literally a vaginal douche. Necessary but not seen as a victory.

I have lived in Avon for nearly 32 years. Hunter is a good kid from a good family. So is Brandon Peters. It's ok to second guess their college choices and career paths. Both guys may be doing that themselves. Just don't lose sight of the fact they both are better humans than they are football players. Hunter's mom had cancer and he opted to stay home and help his family and place football behind his family.

Believe it was “EvanstonCat” - karma baby…

I remember that Northwestern fan who came to our board bragging about their team and the banter and reception he received from posters here. It was almost as if his last name was Bigelow. That’s why I don’t go trolling on other teams boards bragging when we have winning seasons. It shows poor sportsmanship to troll other boards including the IU board!
