Hudson Card to Purdue

Good pickup, didn’t watch Texas much but it seemed the guy didn’t get a fair shot. Sucks to see Brady enter the portal but this team needs proven guys if they want to stand a chance next year.
I watched Texas a couple times. Seems hard to believe that Ewers beat him out. Ewers was very unimpressive throwing the deep ball considering he was the number one recruit.

For people not in the know, Card was a huge recruit out of high school.

Not super excited about his throwing motion, but he has escapibility that we've probably never seen here.

Nice, two interceptions in 194 pass attempts.

From ESPN:
Card, a redshirt sophomore and former top-40 recruit, gives Purdue a quarterback with three years of eligibility remaining and a solid track record in limited appearances. Card started five games over two seasons for the Longhorns, and he's thrown for 1,523 yards and 11 touchdowns over his three seasons.

Card hails from Austin Lake Travis High School in Texas, the rival high school of Purdue legend Drew Brees, who went to Austin Westlake.

Card completed 65.5 percent of his passes in 22 appearances for the Longhorns. That included perhaps the best performance of his career, completing 21 of 27 passes for three touchdowns in a win over West Virginia earlier this year. This season, Card threw just one interception in 108 attempts. In his career, he's thrown just two interceptions in 194 attempts.

Card is 6-foot-2, 201 pounds and drew a wide array of interest in the NCAA transfer portal. The allure of Purdue's system under new offensive coordinator Graham Harrell, which is expected to fit with Purdue's DNA of wide-open offenses, helped make it an appealing destination. Harrell is a Mike Leach disciple who has run different versions of the Air Raid in stops at North Texas, USC and West Virginia.

I watched one of the games he played in this year and from what I saw he was solid. Just shows you when your underclassmen QB is getting a crap ton of NIL money he better be the one playing instead. Hopefully the Card signing is a sign of the recruits Purdue is looking at in the portal. In his situation I understand why he chose the transfer portal instead of sticking around there. He chose “what’s best for him” after a few years of college ball not after his freshman year!
Boiler Up Mr Card!

Card is the type of transfer I was talking about that Purdue should be pursuing! This was a good and smart move.

If any player is scared of competition then we don’t need them here at Purdue!

We signed the guy from ucla and nobody left. I have to believe Allen. Was provided some incentive $$&$$$$$$ to leave or he was recruited by Brian to follow him.

Nothing but good things being said about Card on twitter, even some Texas fans were saying if it wasn’t for NIL he would/should of been QB1. Sounds like the Boilers got a good one!

Watched him play in two games this year at TX...good arm! Mobile and can run when needed instead of forcing passes! I think he is perfect for our new RPO offense. Let's hope we pick up a few more solid kids from Portal in the next week.....I am having faith we will have a staff that can coach our players up!!! Get the most out of these kids! I have read way to many comments about writing next season off with out a clue of the ability of our new staff and team we will field!

Prather WR, OT from W Kent, OG from Miami OH, Steele at RB or the Iowa kid would be good for starters

I am a Texas fan, and I loved Card. I felt like he didn't get a fair shot this past year, and I am glad to see him go to a school and program that I respect. Best of luck, Hudson! I hope you kill it there!
Thanx Rusty my nephew lives down in Austin cool place.

Card started 5 games in his 3 yrs.
I'll still take a kid that started for Texas, Top 59 recruit, #2 dual threat QB behind B. Young. All of this tells me there's ability to be good to great. My guess, he will at least be good.

When was the last time we had a great QB? Drew? Maybe Orton? 2 of the best QB's we've had in the last 30-40 years at Purdue.
