Would like input on 2 concepts:

1.) Should we press ? . . . and yes, "Full-court" !

We have depth, length, quickness, bigs who can protect the rim & the ability to finish on turnovers. I think it would be a great way to use the new shot clock to our advantage (burn up 8-10 seconds of every possession) use all the talents on our team, & to underscore DEFENSE is what could get us to the final four. Remember when teams used to run out of gas right after half-time (with Grant & Kramer) and we would make big runs to put people away ???

2.) Should we "finally" take advantage of a "zone" defense ?

With our bigs, we would make a lane pass a bad decision and we would control the boards. It would also make it difficult to drive into the lane with Davis / Hill / Stevens / Mathias / etc.. out top. And,....as an Anderson kid , I remember hometown player Bobby Wilkerson playing at the top of the key for IU (kind of a box & 1 to trap) and the damage it did to have a 6' 7 out there against opposing teams.

I am salivating at the thought of putting Edwards at the top of the key with his length , with Basil being his back-up out there. It would make it "EXTREMELY" difficult to pass the ball around the key, would kill even more time off the shot clock, and . . . . those wonderful turnovers which we used to enjoy with Kramer would be back ! Not only that, . . . but just like Wilkerson's day, guess who will get the pass on those turnovers ? ? ? Make a quick pass to Vince Edwards or Basil Smotherman and they will " BRING THE HOUSE DOWN ! " with their dunks ! ! !

What do you think ? I think Vince and Basil would "LOVE" it ! ! . . . . . and I sure would .
