Houston vs. Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Two obvious off of Houston calls and then a no call on a clear offensive foul call. Fck those dirty bstards for ruining a great game. I hope Painter just lays the fkc into them for every second of his press conference.

Painter wasn’t even ready for that and they have done that play a couple times this past year

Just poor coaching at the end

What a play to lose on
Was telling wife I hope they don’t play the out of bounds with Braden like they do and they did. Exactly what I was afraid of happening. Course get the push off called and it doesn’t get to that point.

Houston attacked the out of bounds like a couple of teams earlier. Sorry if you heard me yelling, but Purdue has been burned on that earlier and only a couple of seconds were on the clock

I think one of the guys was supposed to cover but was late getting over in the rotation.

Wow I don't understand playing your shortest guy on the out of bounds. Why wouldn't you force the ball to be passed out and pack everything inside?
Yeah, I'd think you'd want Heide, TKR, or Furst on the inbounds

Dang, we had them where we wanted them. Lots of misses opportunities. I would not have felt confident in OT either way with TKR foul trouble.

Heck of game. Out of bounds play was an absolute dagger. We had some players step up. TKR was off. I’ll take a sweet 16 this year. We are a really good transfer away from being scary good. I give Fletcher a lot of shit. He shot the ball and I was impressed with his aggression.

Next year though…no excuses. Braden can’t have half’s of no shooting. TKR can’t get shut down. Fletcher can’t disappear. Myles and Heide MUST improve.

Proud of these guys, we had a good season. There was ups and downs but all things considered not many expected us to battle this hard in the post-Edey era.

If we don't lose any critical pieces to the portal we could have a really special year next season.

Uzan inbounding was also a clue on the playcall

Cryer was the decoy the whole time

Smith went for the steal and left way too early for the hero play instead of the tight close on a guy that struggled all night

I think Smith made the wrong read not Painter’s fault

It’s not the only time Purdue has been scored on Braden, leaving and going to the weak side to help on a cutter and the trigger man stepping in and getting a return pass and scoring

After watching it again it was Renn who needed to front his guy and not allow the pass. I agree pack it in and make them shoot a long shot

He was worried about cryer roll. He played it right.

Smith overcommitted and gambled

You do realize that for most the game Braden had two people on him? The number one goal for Houston was to make it hard on Braden

He was afraid of Coxs guy but he didn't need to completely abandon the area
Cox got eaten by a screen so Braden jumped out to cover Cryer. Probably Loyer needed to rotate down after the inbounds but it happened really fast.

Was Loyer in on that play? I thought it was TKR, Smith, Colvin, Cox, and Heide.......candidly, though I'm not thinking straight due to Boilerepherine level overload.

The gimme miss by Harris in the 1st half...hurts. Am I dunking or laying it into the basket...just laying it into the basket...both shots are worth 2 points. Geez...

Off-season issue to addresss..REBOUND, REBOUND, REBOUND! I hope the kid from the Jacjkrabbits commits to Purdue.

The forearm shiver at the end was the most blatant non call, but how did Houston only get called for five fouls in the second half? While Purdue did struggle to get to the rim, there were numerous plays (especially on rebounds) when a Houston player would pull a Purdue player down and grab the board. That's just insane - FIVE?!
