Looking for advice on how to secure a hotel during game day weekends.

Trying to find an available hotel has been impossible for this upcoming season.

Any advice on timing as to when I need to be booking these rooms in the future?

here's a thought that I've used when going to Disney World and St Louis, Chicago and places for games and concerts. Crawfordsville and Indy are both less than an hour away and both have a lot of motel rooms at a lot lower prices than the Lafayette area hotels charge on game days. You can still drive up and tail gate. it's just your drive to your hotel is 60 mins rather than 20 mins. you could probably save $50-100 for a 2 night stay.

Thanks. But can't afford the DUI

Uber or Lyft are great alternatives. May be a stretch for an hour trip each way, but certainly cheaper than a DUI.

Wouldn't HomelessHarvey sleep under one of the bridges by the Wabash River? What's the problem? :D

Doesn't help all the hotels in Lafayette/West Lafayette collude and all require 2 night stays on home game weekends.

They should tear down that old married student housing, I think that's what they were, next to the stadium and build a hotel. Make the top so people can watch games or something.

Stated this years ago, the married student courts should be torn down and a mini twin tower structure built with great site lines to the field, athletic facilities and campus...one tower a dorm the other a hotel!

What a great recruiting tool it would be to attract both students and student/athletes to Purdue and a great facility for parents and guests to stay at...the hotel could employ the students in our Hotel & Restaurant Management program!

Does Lafayette Limo run on game days? Turn that thing into a party wagon!
I have had friends rent a party bus for a bachelor party on game day to do breakfast club and bar hop. Not sure if it was the Lafayette limo, but that would be a good time!

maybe you should look into joining AAA and using their discount codes, or check out the internet for some discount codes, or go to some places like hotels.com or bookings . com which have special promotions. at hotels.com after 10 nights, yo get one free. At bookings, you must guarantee you'll be there - no refunds.

another idea - have you thought about renting a truck, camper, or tent? I'm sort of serious about this one. You can rent a camper much cheaper than a hotel room. Or you could rent a Ryder or U-Haul truck, for $30 a night, and put some furniture and beds and mini fridge and big screen inside (Those trucks do have electricity and outlets) and then park the truck in a WalMart or Levee or other place parking lot, and continue to party inside the truck while it's parked in the parking lot. think about it - the inside of the truck is about 10x20 which is bigger than a lot of motel rooms. toss a bean bag chair in there, a couple of air mattresses, sleeping bags, get a keg cans, or bottles, get some ice, and for $30, you could have yourself a nice suite. you can even get one of those camping toilets.

Have stayed several times at Prophetstown State Park is about 25 minutes from the stadium and very nice camp sites. Excellent bathrooms and showers with tree lined pull through camp sites just past the gate to the campground. There is a water park but by the time the season starts it is normally closed. The back has the most camp sites, but not many trees. Nice campground and quiet.
