Yeah, already. It helps that I live 2 minutes from I-88. It's almost a straight shot for me, less than 3 hours. Got home for the last minute of the MSU-UCLA game.

Interesting game. You had to figure TKR was going to eat all night. I was trying to bet on him for 15+ but it seems you can't bet college player props in Iowa. News to me. Might have been because it was specifically against Iowa, as we had that rule in Illinois for a couple of years. Don't know.

I thought the pound-it-into-TKR-every-play went a little too far though. The passing lanes just weren't there in the first half. Bad spacing. Much better in the 2nd. How about TKR's assists! Passed out of the double-team so well. One to Furst, one to Braden, one to Cox, not sure about the 4th one.

What can you say about Braden Smith that hasn't been said already. Put this team on his back once again, especially with the 2 fouls on TKR. I did think his 2nd foul was weak, and his 3rd was even more weak although the game was basically decided. Dix and Sandfort were so good. I found it hard to believe that Dix only made 3 3s. Felt like 6 but maybe they were all in the 2nd half.

The crowd sucked for the most part. It was so empty that you could hear each and every complaint from the fans about the refs during some stretches. They did pick it up on defensive possessions when they got it back to 2 possessions with 5 minutes to go. I did have a couple people chat with me nicely about how they like Purdue's program.

Oh, and they do still have a smoking hot blonde doing timeout announcements and games for the students on the floor. Last year she was wearing leather pants though. Maybe she was trying to impress Zach.

Fletcher sitting the last 2:00 on favor of Gicarri was rather eye opening. Turns out to be genius as he came up with a nice steal. This perhaps brings some life back into is Loyer going to be a 4 year starter? Yes it’s one game.

It's been a common thing in recent close games. You saw it plenty in the IU game. I thought Fletch had a tough matchup against Sandfort, and it probably affected him in the first half. In the 2nd it seemed like he wasn't guarding him as much. That might have been Iowa's rotations too because they played the brother more minutes.

I missed that during the IU game. Thought this was the first time.

I think that it has to do more with Gicarri than Fletcher. He not only is quicker and a better defender, but he can handle the ball and hit free throws.

for how good of a shooting team they are, they are a pretty bad FT shooting team

Love our coaches and team but never will understand putting Fletcher on the other team's best player. Why wouldn't we have Furst guarding the 6'8" shooter at the start of the game?

Zero. We haven't had any snow for a couple weeks I think and Iowa typically gets the same weather I do since it's due west. Compare to last year when I went there and it was about 36 hours after a major snowstorm. As soon as I crossed the border I started seeing cars and trucks on the side of the road in the ditch. As many as 50 I stopped counting.

Yesterday was a breeze.

Hard to say what the coaching staff was trying to do. I didn't pay that much attention due to be concerned with the team being asleep the first half. Plenty of defensive breakdowns...and little flow in the offense. It may have been the best team match up they could use in their opinion. They may have seen some things and figured that after the first switch they would have what they wanted. I don't know enough about Iowa's offensive players as far as size and such. I mean Stanfort and Dix have been around for some time. I have no idea, but you can bet there was a reason why that match-up was out there. This is not to imply it was the best scenario, but that thought (right or wrong) went into the decision

I don't think we'd want Loyer playing D in the post either, even if their bigs were no good. Alternatively, he could have been on Dix or Thelwell, but that would have put either Braden or Cox on Sandfort primarily at a huge size disadvantage.

On Thelwell, I had actually never heard of him before Monday, but he was honored pregame for hitting 1,000 career points.

so you basically agree with my "team match up "being the consideration. Your answer is the most common in that a team match-up is usually that. Some will work hard to shut the others down and not worry about the one. Others want to shut the one player down and don't think the others can beat you. Some play for the switch to end up with what they want. Some don't worry so much about the size, but is the guy a catch and shoot guy or will the player need to defend the drive...or both. Lot of considerations , but rarely does the lab planning come out as you desire... ;)

So they play it off as an Iowa honor even though he score almost 80% of his points for someone else? Ok.
Get used to that being the norm. As a friend of mine recently said post-portal/NIL, "So what are they going to do in the future, call back players and honor them at halftimes when they only played here a year? Hey everybody, it's so-and-so, who scored 200 points in his one year with us!" Bad. Bad, bad, bad.
