High Point vs. Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

I will say this is the perfect game to play Berg with a team that isn't particularly high skill or post up.
And/or slower than many . If he continues to play and play well it’s huge for Purdue because it gives him another seven footer. You have noticed that Braden hasn’t put the ball in his hands much. He’s just there setting screens trying to play defense and rebounding and get any put back he can, but he’s not part of the office at this time other than the screening

Hey hey - Mr. Smith lob to the ICE man....nice conversion to close the half.

37-27, Boilers. Not too bad defense the last stages of the half. Would like to have seen a little more separation, but with the way things started.....good minutes from the bench, Heide, Colvin, and Berg gave the team a boost.

Smith still not shooting well, but 10 points, 4 assists.......TKR - 10. Boilers 28-12 on the glass is good.....a couple of really bad mistakes were costly. Definitely need to keep the energy going......High Point can still make a run and can score in bunches.

does Smith get an assisst for that whatever it was

Smith with 3-11, two turnovers. Heavy Berg minutes. Fletcher non existent. Colvin despite an amazing play, a 1-6 with 0-3 from deep. Renn playing with 2 fouls.

If that equates to up 10, I'll take it I guess

Overall Purdue defense has been good to outstanding at times. Some of the players rotations have been just damn good and closing up things only to have some freak play in the final second or a ridiculous fioul call but this day is better than what it has been and there’s hustle there’s work and so far there’s some smartness in it. I just wish the ref saw some of the fouls and the other team a little bit more than they do. Their left-handed player tends to shuffle his feet every time he starts to put the ball down on the court he got called traveling once I’m not sure it’s an every time thing.

Remind them about the second half the past few games to continue on the boards and work their butts off on D

Best I have seen Berg play, and its not even close. Not sure with the lack of height he is going against helps as the High Point 7 footer is out with foul trouble, but dare I say Berg looked good?

he can't shoot FT's though
This part is wild to me, because back when he signed, and was going up against Edey, I saw those videos of him draining 3s and I thought he wouldn't be the bruiser Edey was, but he would have a better looking shot eventually.......oops on that one.

Now that the jitters are out hope we start the second half strong but we have had games where we let up on our intensity after leading.

Need to come out even stronger to start.

Don’t say that. Reminds me of my least favorite player of all time Haarms

Sorry to poke the Bear......on the flip side - C-Boogie was cool as a cucumber a lot of times depsite his torrid shooting reputation.
